  • Cool. Just about to order a 15" Macbook Retina…

    • wouldnt a 10% deal at jb be better?

      • And apple will usually match 10% off even on bto models from my experience

      • Not unless they are a standard model. I need a bigger SSD and other specs. Don't remember JBHIFI doing a 10% off a MACBOOK PRO when customised.

    • Assuming you're not getting some crazy BTO beast then 10% off JB is much better than this.

      You mean, DongleBook Pro?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JirCwapScUs

Here's what Apple engineer has to say about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XSC_UG5_kU

      P.S.: I use a Mac (but mid-2014's).

      • The first video: "A PC Hardware Guy's Perspective" ofc that is gonna be biased as hell plus Linus is known for his biased reviews against Apple products. From what i have seen people do not mind the use of one dongle as that covers most people needs and there are 3 MORE PORTS that can be used. Not to forget that USB C is the future and that this change will be beneficial to the users.

Only 27% left until they compete with other brands…

    • +1

If they dropped their build quality by 27% I'm sure they would. Maybe they should trade in the Aluminium unibody for some nice Dell plastic.

        Dell XPS laptops

"Maximum durability: Cut with precision from a single block of aluminum for a sturdy, durable chassis in a beautiful design. The Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™ touch display option is up to 10 times more scratch resistant than soda lime glass.5

Cool under pressure: The palm rest is made from carbon fiber. It's strong and thin like aluminum, but lighter and cooler to the touch."

        • Anyone with a clue knows you pay for the MacOS software as part of the hardware cost.

        • -1

@DarkRyoushii: I'd want credit on the device for using Mac OS since it's fischer price on an expensive computer.

        • @mccarthyp64:

I disagree, but to each their own.

        • @mccarthyp64:
If you think a UNIX based OS is fischer price then you don't know computers outside of windows and playing video gamez

        • @jenkemjunkie: If we're comparing UNUX systems, I'd compare Mac OS to any Linux distro and the fischer price factor is far stronger than Mac OS to Windows.

        • @mccarthyp64:
OSX is a true UNIX system. Linux is a UNIX clone. It's obvious you know (profanity) all about OS's and havent actually used OSX

    There's a reason why you're a broke uni student ;)
Saving 3.5% should not be a reason to buy one of these (coming from a Mac user), I'd recommend waiting for a 10% off as suggested above as these sales are very common.

    • +1

With 10% off education price from apple, it should be 13.5% saving.

      • Add Tax deduction and high resale in 3 years and you've got yourself a free computer.

      • Up to 10%*. Not everything is 10% off, better off buying at JB when they're 10% off there.

        • +1

That's also true for JB hifi. 10% off at JB hifi is usually for mac computer only, not including iphone, ipad or build to order.

      • +1

        Education is only 7% off

        • Depends which education store ;) different institutions get different rates

Is apple in season? How about mandarins?

    • +9

Your jokes are out of season.

  • +1

Does this include computers? and when does this deal expire..?

  • 1.55k Air in Australia, 1.3k in Singapore and 1.1k in Japan. How do businesses still justify selling tings at 30% increase. The savings of buying an air in Japan literally mitigates your flight cost.

    • The prices are changed according to the economy of each country. Also a computer you buy in Japan will not have its warranty as it is a grey import. I dont know if the difference in price is worth no warranty. From my experience i have had good relations with Apple with them fixing things that were my fault free of charge. i'd like to have that sense of mind rather than thinking that if anything happens to the computer i am screwed.

      • I think you'll find that Apple computers have international warranty coverage. The only real disadvantage of purchasing a mac overseas is changing the charging cable. IIRC the exception to this international coverage are iPhones as different regions have different chips/modems in them.

      • Apple's got international warranty for Macs fam, stop talking coque

        • +1

oops my bad was thinking of iphones!. But if that is the case i agree that it shouldnt cost so much to get a macbook

  • When does this offer end..?

    • 31 May

      • made my purchase a week ago, still havent got it showing in my cash rewards account, whats the hold up?

        • Give apple a few more days and if the rewards are not in your account then contact our customer team https://www.cashrewards.com.au/contact and they will be able to fix it quickly.
