Get a chicken n cheese burger meal from $2.35. Cheaper than buying the burger by itself for $3.

People are getting hits and misses with this hack so I would politely order the meal deal and try your luck.

Make yourself feel less guilty and swap your chips for a salad.

All drink options available. Free and cheap substitutions depending on store.

If you get a large deal, you can substitute a small drink of your choice (like a latte) for around $4.

Is this real? Becausei didnt see it in the menu

    • +3

Bought it in store today. Can also see it in the App.

  • +2

can't see it in my menu either, the chicken and cheese doesn't come in a meal. Which state are you in?

    • +3

      ACT

  • +2

Don't forget you can substitute your drinks so for a few cents more you can get a nicer drink like a frappe in the deal.

    • Can you do this in the app?

      • +2

Yes. All drink options available. I bought a large meal with cappuccino for about $4.

  • I've had the chicken and cheese in a meal before. QLD if that matters. Usually around ~$5.

Just tried on the app and the option is there for a meal but it's showing up as $7.95.

  • +2

Screenshot? Not seeing it for VIC.

    • -3

Tried screenshot but didn't work. Have to take my word for it or just go to maccas and ask for the deal.

      • +16

Okay finally got it to work. Every store I try in VIC shows burger only.

But this hack works for me:

        Add burger to favourites.
Then go to "favourite orders" screen, and choose the Chicken 'n' Cheese burger from this screen , you are then presented with the options for Small Meal, Medium Meal, Large Meal.

        Hope this helps someone out.

        • +1

In the App, I just selected the burger from the Classics menu and the meal options are available.

The App must still have a few issues.

        • +1

          oo this works! Thanks

        • +1

It worked. Thanks. You're the best

        • +1

Hmm, this didn't work for me.

In my favourites, but when I select it, its still burger only for $3.

          Sad kitty.

I'll just have to stick with my $5 big mac meal + 3 for $3 as a side.. :)

Edit: Just the Maccas near Sydney airport. Got it working at other stores.

    • I just did it through the app and the price was $2.45. Just went through McClassics and selected Chicken n Cheese and chose small meal from the tab.

  • +4

When is there going to be free food?

    • +9

As soon as there's free houses, free insurance, free uni education etc.

      • +10

Is that when smashed avos become free?

        • +8

Just have to go dumpster diving … plenty of free avos

        • +3

@sp00ker: Dunno where he (or you) are going… but they started locking them several years ago, or they're located in an area you get abused for entering (like right next to the loading dock).

Edit: Just noticed the article quotes the supermarket, saying they've always locked, that it's not to prevent people searching the bins. LIAR! Several years ago I had just begun checking their skips, having done it about three times. Then one of those ACA/TT shows reported on it. A couple days later a chain and lock appeared on their skips. AND they told me it was for that very reason. Can't they tell the truth about anything!?

        • +1

@GregMonarch: > Can't they tell the truth about anything!?

          No.

If u walked in and order a burger by itself (not knowing about the deal), do you think thr attendant would tell you about this deal?
The othrr day i nearly ordered a cheesevurger for 2.95 beforr remembering there was thr 3dollar meal (ehich wasnt advertised anywhere)

    • Nope. I order this burger regularly, as it is tasty when smothered in mayo, and this deal has never been mentioned to me.

    • +4

      I vould velkom ein cheesevurger.

  • Is it available in Sydney? Does the burger taste any good? Thanks

    • +5

      Processed cheesy chicken goodness.

      • Thanks :)

  • +1

Went to McDonalds in Niddrie VIC yesterday and got it for $3.05. It's usually $4.90.

  • +1

    vic here for $2.45

  • +4

    VIC

    Small $2.50-$2.70
    Medium $2.95-$3.05
    Large $3.35-$3.60

Edit: Seems that there are different prices in different stores.. Also weird because it says it's only available 00:00 to 04:00 once I add it to the cart.

  • +1

Can confirm that SA costs $2.55, killa find, step aside 3 for $3!

    • but not cheeseburger

      • Yeah you go for this one when you get sick of the cheeseburger (or when that deal ends on the 31st.

  • +1

    Vic here for 2.45 small

  • +6

They changed it and made it 00:00-04:00 only

    • :(

      • +1

        00:00-04:00 only
I tried to order earlier but I keep getting out of stock error!

        • The store I went to continuously refused to honour the deal

    • 00:00-04:0016:00

  • +2

    Heidelberg VIC, $2.40, $2.95, $3.55

    • +1

Geez, this deal will be free soon.

  • +1

Depends on the individual store. Springvale only has the burger for $3 keysborough has the small meal for $2.45

  • I just noticed the app says drive thru coming soon. I cant imagine what that is going to lead to…

    • +2

My local Maccas has a drive through line that blocks one lane of traffic. Chaos will ensue.

  • +3

This is a glitch due to individual stores not updating their menus properly; Chicken 'n' Cheese is, officially speaking, not available in meals as it is part of the Loose Change Menu. YMMV for any given store until this is fixed.
Personally, for my WA store it does not let you include it in a meal from the main McClassics menu in the app, but the Favourites bug allows you to add a small side and soft drink for the $3 price.

    • Shame.

    • Would they actually cancel the order? Or do they just process the order and the fiscal side of things is taken care of by the app and mid/upper management?

      • My store was happy with the price and did not act surprised at all.

I bought 3 meals at this price too!

        • -1

I havent had maccas in forever. I wonder if this is my excuse.

        • Didn't use the App either, just went to my local store.

        • It's like buying a drink and getting free food!

        • @indomie: … except that you paid money to get it. How is that free …

        • +1

Eg for the price of a coffee, I get free large fries and a chicken burger thrown in. BARGAIN!

      • -1

'Would they actually cancel the order?'

If you have waited any more than about 1 minute for your food, I doubt they would actually cancel your order/advise you that the order was deemed invalid. They know that would be much worse (for them, 'image-wise') than honouring the order. The only context in which an operation like Maccas would be likely to 'cancel'/deny an order that was legitimately placed via their own internal systems is if they politely explained why that order could not actually be honoured as soon as you made the order, i.e. in person. Otherwise, their failure to honour the order ('deal') would be 'PR suicide'.

        • -1

PR Suicide is a bit dramatic for a single or handful of customers though, and I'm sure you know people/employees certainly don't always do/say the smartest things.

        • @buttstuff:

Maccas does not deal with a 'handful of customers'. I would estimate that they serve hundreds of thousands, every day.

        • @GnarlyKnuckles: I think he meant the handful of customers that are aware of this deal and are trying to use it. Even in the OzBargain community not everyone is going to want to eat a chicken and cheese (I've never ordered a chicken anything from Maccas yet.. )

        • -1

@GnarlyKnuckles: I mentioned "a single or handful of customers" - and you think I'm talking about their entire clientele? A worldwide franchise with a single customer. Yep sure. idek why I bother commenting here…

        • @buttstuff:

'I mentioned "a single or handful of customers… - and" (blah blah)'

Mmmyeah. This post has about 150 likes/ups and counting, and the deal/hack is also being publicised elsewhere online on numerous sites. So 'A single handful' (whatever that somewhat crytic terminology is supposed to mean?) is clearly erroneous. I agree with you about one thing though. I too do not know why you bother commenting on here ;P

Peace, love and mung beans, ButtFluff

  • Queensland - Small: $2.50 - Medium: $3.50 - Large: $3.70

  • It's not letting me put it in a meal :(

    • +2

add the chicken n' cheese to favourites, go to favourites, go to order the burger and it will let you put it in a meal

      • Thanks :) but now it's giving me an error when I attempt to order the meal.

        Never mind eventually got it

        • +1

I can't seem to order the meal. Says only available between 0000-0400 hrs.
Store only opens 0600. So can't order it.

What did you do to order it?

        • @albanyson: By "got it" I meant ordered it. Then when I checked in at the store it said out of stock. So I'm in the same boat as you.

        • @juzz0:

Don't you have to pay for it first? Need card details to get any further along ordering?

        • @albanyson: Yep specify card and everything. It doesn't take payment it seems until you are in the store and you can't claim you are there until your phone's GPS is close enough to the store.

  • Maccas at the intersection of cross rd and Goodwood rd [SA] - Sml Meal: $2.50, Med Meal: $3.05, Lrg Meal: $3.70

  • BTW, even though maccas say they charge $2 extra for bottled water in a meal, the price doesn't actually change so you can get it included with this deal

    • +1

The $2 extra for a bottle of water is in addition to a meal, i.e. you're getting 2 drinks.

      • Ah ok that makes more sense. cheers

  • What substitution are you making for a drink that it's only a few cents extra?

    • +1

Just realised it depends on store. Eg I subbed a cappuccino for around 50 cents more

  • +2

Worked going through the drive thru in the first Maccas I tried.
Second Maccas said they don't do chicken and cheese meals. So did the third.

Tried the app on the fourth and fifth restaurant because they were open and both said out of stock when you tried to "check in".

    • +2

      Wow. You are dedicated.
Annoying that they didn't honour the order. My local maccas don't do the lose change menu after midnight so could that be the issue?

  • +1

Screw this just walked twenty minutes for the meal. Said I'm here then the app froze and now I can't order it "out of stock". I wish I at least got one meal when I saw it on Ozbargain six hours ago.

    NB-24 hour store.

Ordered a golden Mac Meal and paid double

  • +2

A large meal (Chicken 'n' Cheese, Large Fries, Large Coke) at my local is apparently $3.30. Substituted the Large Coke for Bottled Water 250mL and the price dropped to $2.25.

As my local isn't open at the moment I haven't tried submitting the order.

    • +3

      Awesome.

Like KFC, Maccas should let us order anytime and pickup later.

  • How long will this deal be going for? Does anyone know?

  • How can it be available during breakfast hours when the app only allows you to select this burger during regular hours?

    • +1

Weird, but it worked for me at lunchtime without even using the App. I would use the App to prepay if you are worried about them not honouring the deal.

  • Preferred the Chicken Mayo burger, which they got rid of.

They don't even have mayo on this one anymore, just that McDonald's sauce which tastes strange with the chicken and plastic cheese.

The Hungry Jack's chicken burgers are much better.

    • Comes with Mayo. Yummy.

My local HJ is always gross. I rarely go to HJ after a cockroach walked over my burger one day.

      • I asked about the mayo, she said it's the McDonald's sauce, not mayo (and it was) so maybe they are rolling this out.

And I don't blame you, a cockroach would do that for me too. :/

    • +1

      Username checks out.

  • +3

    $2.65 here in regional NSW.

  • Almost 10:30

So who is game to try it?

  • +3

For some reason mine only said available from 00:00 to 04:00
