My previous deal on the 12 piece kit was popular and now the 22 piece kit with key extractors is on sale. Fun way to learn as the lock is clear so you can see what you're doing and how it works.

      Oh but it is šŸ˜‰

      • pretty clear

      • It's a clearance sale.

You should have called it clear practice locks!

I thought "transparent" was clear enough.
      :)

      • +1

        clearly not for some

        • The meaning was clearly opaque

  • The last offer for the 12 piece is now $11.89 delivered with GD5 code.

  • Did anyone receive an instruction sheet with theirs from the last purchase?

    • +5

No instructions. Google is your friend.

Found practice lock very easy to unlock. Far easier than a real lock. And, that's not because its clear. Transparency did not help me at all because it is very hard to see what is going on. A little tension and a few quick scrubs (blindfolded) and the practice lock just pops open.

      • +4

yeah the transparent practice locks are pure junk

but…i use it to lock my garage……..

@r0xz: where do you live ? I'd like to come around and practice

      • Thanks rifter

      • How's the quality?

  • last kit has now got me more interested, any suggestions for nicer kits as these ones are a bit too think which make them hard to manoeuvre for some locks?

  • +1

Thanks clear. Mine came to $14.26 using points I didn't even know I had

  • Do these "practice" padlocks and lockpicks get delivered successfully without any issues created by customs? Or do you have to show some evidence that you are a locksmith?

    • +1

They're not illegal. Heaps got theirs delivered in the last deal.

      • They're not illegal. Heaps got theirs delivered in the last deal.

It's a grey area, customs can stop them but they rarely do but there are circumstances that can see you charged with possessing them.

If you get stopped away from your home and police find them on you or in your car you can be charged with "going equipped to steal" which most states have a derivative of this law.

Also most states have another law that can see you charged just for owning them which is "possessing housebreaking implements".

Australia the backwards nanny country where everything is illegal.

    • No issues with my prev order. Just took some time.

    Hi All

PickPals here. Great to see people are interested in lock sport and for all the right reasons.

To put an end to the Google lawyers and miss information, we have worked with our lawyers over the last year to put together an ebook. We have made it free to download to give back to the lock sport community. I know we also have a lot of fans @ OB also.

[LOCK PICKING IN AUSTRALIA: LOCK PICKING LAWS, LEGALITY AND YOU] (https://www.pickpals.com.au/product/lock-picking-in-australiā€¦) Ebook.

Be sure to get yourself a copy and understand the laws in your state.

    Thanks again guys

  • I got this last time it was available.

The lock picks are pretty low quality, I just have mine in my work bag for emergency use - hobbyists are better off getting a nicer set.

The practice lock is crap too, 6 pin and can be opened in 2 seconds with a light raking action. Maybe you can cut the pins and make it more challenging or something…

    • any suggestions for alternative sets?

  • yes it looks interesting….yes it's novel and yes you think it'll provide hours of enjoyment … reality is that it's not going to turn you into a master lockpicker and you'll be confused with the sheer number of pieces that seemingly look the same. After 5mins of playing around with it it'll end up in a box or bottom of a drawer somewhere never to be seen again.

Although you may find the lock useful for your gate.

  • I got the previous set. Yes, the practice lock is boring. The tolerances are just too big and it opens without any real skill.

The same is true of some padlocks I recently got from Aldi and a door lock I bought from Masters (yes, back when they existed).

I am pleased to say that a very similar cheap door lock from Bunnings has not yet succumbed to my amateurish efforts, pity they don't seem to stock the brand any more, Abus.

  • What am I missing with this kit from the previous deal?

Of all my pieces, I pretty much only use one, the curl uppy one… haha

tmart shipping was quick enough. Came way before my gearbest stuff I ordered months earlier

    • Yeah what does the key extractor set do?

      • +1

        Extracts broken keys from keyholes.

  • Will this increase my lock-picking skill levels?

    • Of course. Better than the ol' Bobby pins.

  • Not a fan of these locks. Good for seeing the principle on how to pick locks, but other than that I guess the money is. This set does have much more pieces than what I got with mine.

Regarding the lock they're too easy to open and are barely offset. Just inserting one of the lock piece bits and the lock is able to be opened :(

  • Link is still to the 12 piece? … derr, it's 12 + 10 pieces.

    nvm

  • And yes, a new account contains 100 Tmart points, of which you can use 20 points toward this order.

As seen on the checkout page :

"100 Points = $1.00, You can use up to 20 Points for this order (credit cash $0.20)"

So comes down to $US 11.19
