Milwaukee Heated Jacket - Should I Wait?

So after looking for heated jackets I have found this: https://www.milwaukeetools.com.au/power-tools/cordless/2395

Which seems like it would be good considering its got pocket warmers and other jackets (such as AEG) don't seem to have this.

Two things I have noticed is,
1: SydneyTools is the only shop that seems to sell this (Bunnings sell AEG)
2: This jacket looks like it might be last years as the website says it is discontinued.

All I have heard is sydneytools is overpriced and will be a rip off, and I was wondering if anyone had any idea how long until the next jacket will come out (as it will be winter soon I thought a new jacket would already be released?)

I just don't want to pay the full price (roughly $330 for the jacket, battery and charger) if there will be a new jacket that comes out bumping the price down or being better in general for the same price.

Cheers

  • This is crazy I never knew they made these

Have one of these which I won from a work raffle a few years back. its abit of a gimmick IMO. When it heats the jacket, you only feel the warmth through the areas which it heats and doesnt heat dissipate the heat to other areas very well. It also doesnt retain/insulate the heat very well and you do realize the cold rather quickly after you've turned it off. one last gripe is with the battery and its location in the left quarter of the jacket; you always notice its weight and it also gets in the way if you have hugging car seats.

Money would be better spent on a good softshell fleece jacket IMO.

    • I see, cheers for the info

I have a mate who has it and he says he gets way too hot in it (when its on the lowest temperature) and he has only been using it to warm up before putting the jacket on each morning and the heat stays.

If you were to use it but keep the heat on low do you think it will be fine?

I was wanting to get the hoodie jumper but its not waterproof so I feel like it wont be useful a lot of the time.

      • Yep like your mate said it gets really warm/hot even on the lowest setting. to me, it wasnt to my liking of 'warm' and was akin to wearing a thin electric
blanket. good idea to use it as a pre-warmer before putting on the jacket though. I never thought about that haha.

Bonus is that everyone knows youre wearing a Milwaukee jacket. Mine was red in colour and all the tradies would call me a wuss/(profanity) :( hence going back to the standard company issued soft shell jacket

  • Only Sydney's Tools shop at Sydney Tools

  • I cant fathom the need for one. When you work you will warm yourself up but get the right jacket to retain the heat from your body.

Maybe the thermal gear could help.

Last company i worked for a few guys had these and the fun factor wore off very quickly when they didnt want to get them dirty

  • I saw something like this on clearance at Bunnings. Don't remember details or price
