Help Me Find a Good Headset for Phone

I use my mobile for work a lot and am looking at a good headset. Budget isn't so much of an issue, I'd rather pay extra for something that reliable and works well.

What I'm after is:

Must have
Microphone
Clear sound (for both me and the caller on the other end)
Mute button
Good battery life

Nice to have
The ability to use with 2 devices (e.g. PC for Skype for Business, mobile for mobile calls)
Replaceable battery

Any ideas?

  • I'm using bose noise cancelling QC20 in-ear every day and I really like it. It doesn't have replaceable battery though but after 2 years the battery still doing well.

    • +1

      Do they have a microphone?

      • They do. And noise cancelling make me a lot easier to make phone call in noisy environment.

Oh sorry and it doesn't have a mute button…

  • I'm also really curious. I started a post about this a while back but can't seem to find it for some reason. I couldn't come up with any solution. I wanted an over-head headphone with a mic but the only options I had were headphones that had mediocre audio/microphone quality, or those that had a flip down mic like the ones you see in call centres (which look horrible).

I was hoping that something exists that is an over head headphone which has a tiny mic that comes about quarter way down the cheek - with exceptional microphone quality.

  • I'll confirm when I'm back in the office but the headset I was given is the Jaba motion. Works with Skype for business and my iPhone .

Doesn't have a mute button I don't think though. However I just hit mute/unmute on my laptop or phone. No biggie.

    • Cool thanks for that.

The headset I have for my PC at the moment has a physical mute button, makes it easy. Sometimes I multitask on conference calls, and its hard to find the skype window to un-mute in a hurry if its in the background.

  • Wired or Unwired? If Wired, I trialled the Jabra Evolve 40 and quite liked it. Used it on my phone (via the 3.5mm jack) and also via Skype and no complaints. The boom arm that is meant to be "discreet and integrates into the headset", is a bit figety when not in use and the "premium noise cancelling" is a bit of a joke but apart from that, i would use it again

    • I don't mind if its wired or unwired. Ideally best of both worlds, so I can use bluetooth from my mobile, or wired to my PC.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out.
