Is anybody worried about buying these and the possibility of the business falling over before using the voucher? considering some of them offer 1 year validity, its entirely possible. what would happen? would u get a refund or lose ur money?
Group Buy Websites

Hmm, my assumption would be that you would become a creditor but it is a bit of a worry. I guess a lot of these restaurants advertise with these group buy sites because they are not getting enough sales.
It would depend on 'who' was the owner of the debt. It could be yourself or the provider of the service. You'd actually have more change with it being the provider, as they would stand to lose money, which would motivate them to recover more cash/put more pressure on.
As a lone creditor in a liquidation, you're chance of getting all the money you're owed is slim, as every other business wants a slice before it goes down..
Who is the money paid to in these group buys? And is the provider of the offer (ie. the website providing the deal) liable at all? I'm unsure of the setup of these businesses.
I suppose the only way you could cover yourself is only buying coupons that you know you will use soon
completly agree
Yeah, I bought a dinner for 2 on a tall ship in Syd. When I made my booking the guy said that he sold 2,000+ of the dinner/lunch deals on Scoopon. He seemed to think that it was a pretty successful campaign.
Im with Neil, most of these places need the advertisement due to low sales i presume, or else why discount so heavily, and by discounting so much, you risk them not profiting and going bust. and thus you lose out since u paid for nothing.
Also, i guess the prudent thing would be to buy small in value vouchers, so even if you lose, u wont be losing say a $80 voucher. subject but, anything over $30 would be a :( for me.
From the Jump On It website's FAQ's:
"What if the business I bought the Jump On It voucher from closes down?
If anything happens that makes it impossible for you to redeem your purchase, we'll make sure you get your money back. "

However I am disinclined to believe that this is the case with all the sites…
ACA or TT thats ur best bet!
most of these companies bank of u no redeeming it
or leaving it too late and not being able to redeem
you lose your money if they go into liquidation
