Very Bad Experience with Samsung Galaxy S8 Pre-Order. Still Didn't Receive It

I pre- ordered Samsung Galaxy S8 as soon as it went alive. On April 21st received a message saying it will be delivered on 22nd April. As it wasn't delivered, I called both Star track and Samsung. They told me there was an internal error while transmitting the address to the startrack. As street address was missing, start track didn't deliver. Apparently this error happened specifically for the parcel point click and collect.
I thought this is a simple problem and could be fixed easily by Samsung. I was wrong. I am calling them almost on a daily basis, as of today ( 17th May) it wasn't delivered and they cant even tell me when it will be delivered. I am very frustrated. I am wondering if there are any others in the same situation.
Could anybody kindly suggest me what I should do? Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: Samsung agreed to refund the entire amount and offered $200 VISA card for the inconvenience.

  • get a refund from samsung or via paypal/credit card company, buy from ozbargain deal probably less than what you originaly paid

    • But from pre-order, I get a free VR headset.

      • Then they can organise pick up, pay for return shipping of the headset or let you keep it.

Regardless, they messed up and you're entitled to a refund.

Or, you can try talking to a supervisor at Samsung, but either way they should either resolve it immediately or offer you a refund.

      • Can likely buy one for $100-$150 easily - many people selling theirs from the preorder.

      • If you're only interested in the VR headset because it's 'free', consider the fact it's not actually that good, and you won't be missing much. The unwanted ones not even selling for half price!

        • I just sold my VR headset on Gumtree for $100. RRP is $160. Also sold the earphones in the box sold those for $95 because I already had a decent pair. Brought my cost down $200 pretty much.

  • I always think people who use those "alternate delivery addresses" are upto no good.

Most now is just a matter of convenience where during the day they just can't be in their homes for delivery.

      • why not send it to work?

        • +2

Some work places have a rule against personal mail/parcels. Generally companies/public departments big enough to have an internal mail processing system.

why not send it to work?

Don't be silly, nobody on Ozbargain works.

  • You mentioned street address missing? If not mistaken parcel collect address usually have the parcel collect number and the street address itself? If you left out the street address then it's your own mistake.

    • No, Its not my mistake. In the invoice there is a correct address. Apparently its an internal error from the Samsung. They havent transmitted the full address to Star Track.

      • Ok. I guess they somehow omitted the second line in the address.

By the way Startrack does delivery to parcel locker address? Usually anything AusPost they don't deliver or deliver with an extra cost

        • StarTrack is owned by Australia Post.

This is why I much prefer bricks and mortar stores. Everytime you order something online you wonder if it will actually get delivered. I've had a few parcels go missing over the years and you are always at the mercy of the delivery organisation and the Provider as you have little proof that stuff has been a) sent and b) delivered to the correct address. In relation to deliveries - If I'm not home then take it back to the nearest depot and I will pick it up from there; just leaving parcels lying around unattended is not good enough. (Our postie used to deliver parcels into our alcove at the front door). I came home one day to see a guy with a stick trying to drag one of my parcles over to the gate. He took off like a scalded cat when he saw me running towards him. Nowdays I would've done it slowly and taken his picture and gone to the cops. The problem is the only "power" you have is to back out the credit card transaction for non delivery and that is a hassle. From what I've read PayPal can be a crock when it comes to settling these sort of disputes as well.

Agree. But I thought dealing with Samsung directly would be easier than cheaper grey imports. I am still in disbelief with a such a poor customer service from a major organisation like Samsung. Basically they have BPO in Philippines. I call them everyday and talk to a supervisor, he says he has sent an urgent email to the " Management" in Australia. They never respond, do not reply to the emails and do not call back. Its almost a month now and they didn't tell me when it will be delivered. May be they have mistaken that I ordered Samsung Galaxy S10???

      • I can understand your frustration. Major corporations outsource the "help desk" and you are one removed from being able to get anything done. The complete lack of care does seem to be astounding - their reputation seems to mean very little to them. From a store perspective I can pick the stuff up when I'm there and make a visible fuss if there is an issue with the product. Dealing with someone at the end of a line, who can hang up at any time, is just very frustrating. In Melbourne there is a Samsung display booth at Chadstone - not sure of the affiliation but wondering if chatting with this people might help.

  • You could offer to pick up the parcel from Startrack warehouse if they have the parcel. I had to do this often because the delivery driver claimed that my address does not exist.

If Samsung has not handed over the package for delivery then its Samsung's fault. If I was in your situation I would cancel the order and ask for a refund. Also I would avoid buying samsung products in future.

Do you really think all the time & effort that you have wasted on samsung is justified because the deal saves you $$$?

    • I cant pick up because it was a click and collect to the parcel point.

      • Nor should you, stand your ground and get them to sort it out.

I had similar crap from Sony with my $2,000 TV; they didn't deliver and billed me three times for a total of $6,000.

Unfortunately they all use call centres so it can take perseverance until you reach someone who will help you.

Either that or just do a chargeback.

      • Thats good to hear. Some organizations work really fine with customers. Hope you had a pleasant experience now. I remember once I asked for upgrade of my VPN service from PureVpn company and they made my experience of upgrade really well. I'm glad these companies are becoming people friendly.

Buy an iPhone instead and you won’t have this problem. Your fault for buying a Samsung POS.
