Why go out for ice cream when you can make it at home

Why make it at home, when you can buy it half price at Coles & Woollies?

Can make any flavour you want.

Be aware this doesn't have a condenser. You will need to have room in your freezer to freeze the large steel bowl fir at least 24 hours. And the forethought to put it there.

Handmade ice cream, made without budget constraints of commercial products, rules.

I can buy all the flavours that I want…

lol. You lead a small life, silly goose.

      • This.. if anyone sees the more expensive one with the refrigeration until built in for a good special, I am there.

    • because homemade is often better. My partner makes bread, it's so good anything store bought is comparatively terrible. Same with her jam, yogurt, hollandaise, mayonnaise and anything and everything she makes.

How is it different to $20 one that everyone has in a house somewhere? You still need to put the bowl in a freezer, so its not fully automatic.
My trick for a quicker ice cream in a cheap one that I have - put it in a freezer while its working! Does it much quicker.
I thought this was the one with a freezer part, so that you dont have to keep it in a freezer, while waiting for 1 time when you want a DIY icecream

    • $20 one may work better. I have a cheapie and this same model and prefer the cheapie. The larger bowl in this model is not up to the job of freezing the larger qty of ingredients the same way that my cheapie does with half the batch size. I'd rather a litre of good ice-cream that's ready to eat than 2 litres of less than properly formed ice-cream that I have to stick in the freezer for a few hours before I can touch it. Ymmv.

      • Yes, two litres is very large capacity. Would be less effective than a smaller bowl.

      • What is the cheap one you have/recommend mate?

  • Frozen yogurt: “There’s something so human about taking something great and ruining it a little so you can have more of it.”

    Great show.

  • So let me get this right. You have to freeze the bowl (empty) overnight to get it down in temperature before use. You then make the ice cream and it's ready to eat after 25 mins? If you don't manage to eat the whole 2 litres immediately then you can scoop it in to a smaller tub for freezing?

    • I've long since upgraded to the one with the condenser but usually you'll want to stick it in the freezer for a while to harden up. You will need to lick the beater though.

My ice cream making tip - use A2 cream and milk.

  • I want a proper ice cream maker for 200 bucks (the 'real' price) This is rubbish.

  • I have one of these, just know that the colour online and in person is completely different!

  • Calling BS on the amount saved - never $199, typically $129 elsewhere when not on special.

    • Where?

      • Bought mine at Myer, in WA.

        • Myer does the 1.5l for $139. This is the 2l version.
