  • Do you fly a lot to China and Indonesia?

    • For business and personal, yes, otherwise why would I bother…

  • I'm not sure what your question is,
Which credit cards are linked to skyteam?
Which Australian airline lets you collect points on skyteam alliance flights?
Is virgin or qantas part of skyteam?

    Have you tried,

    • There doesn't seem to be direct point redeem for the sky team airlines, wondering how to move points thru whatever program to get to it.

Skyteam that's a hard one, I did a long search for it probably the only way to move points is via Delta Airlines (US) and SPG. I gave up another spending 1 hour thinking of ways to use my Amex/Virgin/Qantas points to upgrade my in-laws ticket to premium economy/business class for their long haul flights.

Easiest is Qantas, being in Australia and Qantas trying to grab a slice of the China market via Sydney to Shanghai is quite competitive from at least my in laws leg of the journey however the stop over at Pudong is 7 hours for them and they still have to transit from Sydney to Brisbane as their final destination.

Amex and transfer to SPG then you can transfer to SkyTeam members. I do this for Korean Air

    • Hi bion83, how does this work please?

    • Amex is Members Rewards, lemme add that tomorrow, will look into this, thanks

    • Hmm, Garuda, China Airlines aren't listed at SPG airline partners list, but China Eastern & Southern are. Weird, they are all part of SkyTeam tho. Thank you, this gets me half way.

    • If you want Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, would you be better off transferring direct to Asia Miles, or going via SPG?

      • If you want Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, you are best going with Qantas Frequent Flyer, as Cathay is a direct airline partner.

If you have Amex Member Rewards already, you can redeem Asia Miles.

If you have Velocity, I think you are out of luck. (sign up Qantas FF or Amex Member Rewards)

        • Thanks. I compared business class flights for my route booked with QFF and Cathay, and QFF want a hell of a lot more points & Fees than Cathay (With Qantas Using Cathay aircraft).
And so my plan is to convert direct to Asia Miles. However I just though that there might have been a benefit of going via SPG.
