One Day Sale on Some 3D Printers US $159 - $249 / ~AU $215 to ~AU $330 @ GearBest

30

For those of you who missed out on the Aldi deal:

I just received this in email. It says 48Hours but will expire today.

http://www.gearbest.com/flash-sale.html

They have the A8, A6 and A3 kits quite cheap (For reference - Ebay kits prices on the A3 are on them are $650+ and the A6 around $330 and A8 $285). Please note the lower model numbers as far as I am aware are the later models.

A3

A6

A8

There are some quality / safety issues with at least some of the kits but they can be remedied and there are a ton of online forums about them.

The quality is mediocre / average (at best) at least with the A8 I bought the other day. But isn't too much effort to improve them - though I wouldn't recommend these for anyone who isn't technically minded though.

Updated with links and price guide - and removed freebie tag sorry about that!

  • I've never purchased from Gearbest, but is it basically Aliexpress (cheapish Chinese stuff where quality is to be determined)?

    • +2

you got it. and with standard shipping, your order might turn up before the end of the year, maybe sooner, maybe never.

      • The one I ordered a little while ago took only a few business days (A8) though that doenst mean this stock is au stock, i think its probably likely it is.

        • thats great. My orders have always turned up eventually using standard shipping, last few times I'vew used faster shipping & it's been quick (after they actually send it).

A few biz days is pretty impressive. They must of had it in stock & ready to post. Did you pay extra for shipping?

I think many of these Chinese based shops, wait until they get a certain number of orders before they actually order from their suppliers, then they ship. Zapal can take 2-3 weeks before shipping.

        • Cost me $228.73 all up - I didnt select extra shipping, i just assumed it would have been weeks, but it wasnt.

  • Yes, similar to Aliexpress/deal extreme etc I only bought one thing from them (the A8 the other day).

It arrived pretty quickly though they must have had the A8 as australian stock.

  • what do you mean by quality? components or print quality? and how does the print quality compare?

  • +1

Meeh. The best one (the A8) is only "okay" as is, and needs a fair bit of upgrades to be able to go to the good/great bracket.

The a3 with the way the enclosure is I wouldn't touch with an bargepole.
The a6 has an acryllic frame so it's going to be too wobbly and easy to crack and degrade over time for good use.

    • Why is the A8 the cheapest of the 3 on sale ?

      • The newer ones added features or smaller sizes that are not an improvement

  • It doesnt matter now, but the higher number is the more basic model (I did note that in the article).

  • On a scale of 1 to IKEA furniture how difficult are these to put together?

    • You could do it in a day if this is your first time. A lot of steps but there is a video tutorial showing how to do it.

  • Not easy at all. Ie Ikea furniture, but whilst you are drunk.
