Looking for Recommendations Regarding Work Vans

My stepdad is looking for a work van to start his new business in detailing charter planes.

The van needs to be a reasonable size to fit scaffolding, ladder rack and all other products that are required for the wash.

He was thinking a ford transit or Hyundai iLoad.

Budget is $20k. Can be second hand.

So what is everyone's recommendation?

    Iload

  • iload, vw transporter, or merc sprinter.

  • Sprinters are great handling vans

  • Renault also has something similar in size, as does Fiat.
I thought transits were not too reliable.

    iLoad

    • this ^^^

however every van has its issues… some owners report turbo issues

  • This might not be something that springs mind as a first choice, but a good option nonetheless is a E51 Nissan Elgrand with the rear seats removed. Amazing comfort and luxury for not a lot of money, good power and can be had fairly cheap, for a little over half your budget.

Clown car. Fits everything and more

  • an hiace lwb is the smallest vehicle with the largest cargo. or an ex ambo sprinter with barn doors.

  • Suzuki APV! Can buy new for $18000. I had one and loved it.

    • Manual only, and not near the size of the other options op has listed. Otherwise worth looking at :)

      • Yep, sorry, didnt realise he needed an auto? Its true, its probably not big enough, but it is still a surprisingly well designed basic little van.

        • OP didn't state needing auto, just thought I'd point out in case it was a factor

        • APV is backward in safety though.

        • @tonyjzx: Very true.

    • Suzuki APV!

it's a bit small for scaffolding.

  • Not a Transit, if planning to hang on to it!
