Suggest a Best VPN around

Hi guys,

What VPN do you use and how much do you pay? I am looking for one which is utorrrent/bittorrent friendly and one which you can use on public connections.

Does it matter how many countries can a VPN connect to?

Cheers

    I use Windscribe.

I have previously used PIA but that was expensive and their Mac program didn't work very well.

I have also used Cyberghost and they were alright.

Windscribe had an offer via Stacksocial for a lifetime licence for $50AUD. I use it for torrenting and notice no drop in speed. They have a ton of servers also and only a couple don't allow torrenting.

I use PIA - great customer service and speeds.

I use PIA - no complaints, speeds are good depending on where you connect to, but I havent tried others to compare. One thing to look for is whether logs are kept or not. PIA claims no logs kept and I take their word for it, as do others. But YMMV.

No issues with using on a Mac, Windows, iOS so far.

You need to find a VPN that would have a server in the UK. I know PIA has one there. They should have a 7 day trial. Give it a go

      • Thanks for the reply. Sounds like a good idea.

    • I'm using Nord, can do that. If it didn't work, you just need to clear your browser cache, or create a new user in Chrome. Apparently BBC are gonna require log in soon… Not sure if the account will be attached to your UK tv license.

      • nuts, makes sense though. Thanks for the heads up.

Cant go past ExpressVPN if you value service instead of price.

Go to the techradar website link to get 15 months subscription for the price of 12.

  • AIRVPN has a pretty good rep, about $80 a year though.(you did say 'best' and not 'cheapest' :) )

I use PIA, no issues and got it on sale not long ago

Free one, works pretty well on android and windows devices. No ads and bandwidth restriction in android if you could find previous versions.

    • Psiphon handlerui is the one I sometimes use for free unlimited internet on my phone when I run out of data.

I was using PIA and stopped because it prevented me from accessing my NAS and LastPass. I found their support to be unhelpful.

I switched to PureVPN and it appears to be OK but it slows down internet access noticeably.

    • I have lifetime with PureVPN but stopped using it when I read about it's leaks - https://www.bestvpn.com/purevpn-review/

    • You must have set it up wrong then. I have a 24/7 connection to PIA on my home server and I can access the internal network without any issues.

    • Update - I had continue using PIA on my tablet because I had paid for 1 year in advance and I don't use my tablet to access my NAS or Lastpass. I have found another problem with PIA.
I recently subscribed to PressReader and found that some Aussie newspapers were geo blocked. On my tablet using PIA Pressreader was still able to identify that I was in Australia. On my desktop using PureVPN I was able to circumvent the geo-blocking. Users of PIA should double check this.

  • (Unblocker.cc) —Web site not a VPN service—

all torrent sites there, streaming etc.

no VPN required it masks for u

There are lot of these popping up for all sorts and funnily enough .xyz domain is the one allowing it = —google—

  • I go to extratorrent and the SO uses ezytv. No vpn needed for these websites.

I used to use a VPN and go to TPB but now I cbf waiting for it to load.

I looked at VPNs recently, and came away with the impression: there's plenty of snake oil.

Check That One Privacy Site to compare 170 VPNs against criteria like privacy logging, technical security and business ethics.

It's far from perfect but you get a good idea of some clangers to avoid.

I found this checklist valuable, supplied to me by Dave Peck when I asked about Cloak policies vs That One Privacy Site.

It's not always easy to check these boxes!

If you have a Mac, Cloak is awesome in its simplicity and honesty about what it does and doesn't do.

    another vote for PIA here

  • +1 for PIA. Often deal around as well so you get a discount on the list price.

  • I use zpn.im on my mobile.
I use my Telstra credit to buy subscription in Playstore.

  • Wow - Great content here.

I've been with Hola.org for a while now. I've had a manual setup on my system with them which works flawlessly. Unfortunately my laptop is well overdue for a full reformat, they no longer offer the manual setup via your wireless settings and now only offer the icon via your web browser.

I'll come back here though once my subscription with them expires next year.

  • So what VPN do you use if in Australia I'm using getflix which I used for Netflix but for about 6 months I been using Kodi not knowing I needed to use a VPN for that,I thought getflix was for that.
So what's the one to get?it seems everyone has it's different opinion.
I want to be able to use it on a android tv,android phone and box and iPad if possible I only have adsl.
