Norton Internet Security 2007 - $19.99 for the software and 12 months protection

80

I know that Norton is not for everyone but, if you are in the market for NIS2007 (with a free upgrade to NIS2008), this is one of the better offers going around at the moment, especially now that this deal has expired: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/2593

There is no cash-back to mess around with, no 3-PC minimum. Just $19.99 for the software and the 12 month subscription.

  • Heh, I like the Norton is not for everyone comment. I strongly dislike the anti-virus software in that it tends to overtake your computer. NIS is great for those people who are wary of the internet and the nasties that can be bestowed upon you.

    • LOL, agreed with the NIS is not for everyone. In fact, I think it should read NIS is not for anyone. They should pay people instead to test their products.

Why bother when you can get McCaffee, and some others for free during the occasional bank 'security' promotional period?

  • Turns out it's actually Norton Internet Security 2007 and not 2008.

3 PC Minimum??? There has never been a 3 PC minimum - you get a license for 3 separate PCs - that means GOOD not BAD. It's not like you have to have it on 3 PCs as a minimum….??

And yes, this one is only for one PC.

Right now Norton Internet Security and 360 have $50 cashbacks - so you can pick up a 3 user full version boxed NIS for $48 ($98 retail)
The 360 retails for around $125 can be found on special for around $118 (@ JB HIFI) meaning it's about $68. The main difference between 360 and Internet Security is that 360 offers an "undelete" function for data recovery and a few other things.

    Summary:

3 User NIS 2008 Retail Boxed = $48 (After Cashback)

    1 User NIS 2007 Download = $19.99

    3 User N360 Retail Boxed = $68 (After Cashback)

Keep in mind that cashback is separate to what the stores sell the products for. So if you can find NIS for say $80, you will get $50 cashback regardless of how much you got it for in the first place.

Something else that should be known to all is that Norton have rebuilt their whole line of protection software from the ground up so that it uses less resources and doesn't bog down computers (as much…)

    Then again there's always AVG.

  • Sorry if this sounds ungracious. But as an IT person I feel compelled to say that Norton products have a bad name. They cause many people a lot of trouble slowing down and breaking things on their machines. And are known for leaving things in tatters when you try to uninstall them.
I would put Norton's as my last choice for A/V, and avoid the rest of their software too.

  • PS Except for their recently acquired Veritas software. The volume manager is brilliant and NetBackup is damn good. However I would bet money they will find a way to change that.
