Is This The Cheapest 120GB SSD?

As title says. I don't mind spending a little extra for 250gb honestly, but with the price increase of ssds during this shortage, I'll leave it till my next upgrade. Also, what chords do I need to buy to plug it into my pc?

    Try the E5 power chord.

  • Sure.

You need only a SATA3 cable.

You don't need any power cords. you will have HDD power connectors in your desktop PC, most systems have at least 4-6.

  • $65 isnt far off the cheapest 240gb ssd I bought during the happy days of 2015/16.

  • One of the cheapest but why not go for a better one that isn't likely to fail?

    • It has a 3 year warranty, which is pretty standard for 120GB @ sub $80 dollar price points.

I'd say that's good enough given the price.

For 5 years warranty you'd need to spend $100 on a 120GB Samsung EVO 850, which is not terribly great value.

I'm not talking about warranty, I'm talking about actual failure rates.

        • transcend is a fine brand

        • failure rates for modern ssd's are very low nowadays. You could google "Annual Failure rate for SSD's" and look at the literature. Figures vary but they are definitely extremely low (1 percent or less).

In fact SSD's are less likely to fail than normal drives (which have an AFR of 5%), though the downside is that SSD's are more likely to lose data than HDD's. You'd still need to backup.

        • I'll go samsung if I expect to go beyond 5 years due to higher write limit. Otherwise, they're all about the same.
