This is informative, I did not know that. Screw these bars!
Woah, so does this change the calories/100g significantly?
Whoa seriously? I eat one to two a week and just loaded up and bought 4.
not to downplay the price since it is good for this product as far as i know.
i recently bought a food processor (kambrook 800w at bing lee for $88 if you interested) and started making my own protein balls.
a bunch of nuts, a bunch of oats, couple scoops of protein powder, some cocoa powder and blitz.
toss in some dates and prunes and blitz
add some honey and water to bind further then roll into balls (i then roll in coconut)
very easy to vary , ie add coconut, cranberries, peanut butter, etc
would highly recommend :)
The bars from the shops dont have the carbs in them that the home made ones have. Honey, Dates, Oats can blow it right out.
ah good point!
Quest bars are the best imo, they don't coat them in that fake chocolate that gives it that horrible alcohol aftertaste. They also have a ton of flavours and each bar has some added fibre in it.
how do Clif bars rate for you?
@alebox: Haven't tried one actually. The last different one I tried was an OH Yeah protein bar. In chocolate Birthday cake flavour. Tasted like shit. I'll stick with quests!
@alebox:
Clif bars are full of sugar and hardly any protein.
Aren't they advertised as energy bars? If not, they should be.
I tried one from woolies and it wasn't worth the calories and sugar intake. Meaning, it wasn't that nice.
Just checked and protein is around 10-11g per bar and sugar 20-23g per bar.
@richy_o: They taste awesome, but are effing expensive.
These things taste like complete ass
I'll just take your word on that
As someone that is bodybuilding and on a carb restricted diet, this is as close to chocolate as i get, I actually crave them sometimes
These bars, at this price are definitely the best you can get, locally anyway.
Cheapest price ever offered. Nice one.
Umm, not quite.
They are $2.50 each here and were $2.49 in Nov 2016
Just Brodened Chermside Markets. Got 63 of these. Definitely 50% off, you don't have to buy 4.
If you actually care about net carbs, these things advertise 4g carbs but are are loaded with Maltitol (9g), Glycerol (10g) and Sorbitol (2g).
Maltitol is especially bad. You may as well just eat candy.
