I applied for a credit card with ANZ and during the application stage it gave a message saying the system was down for maintenance and to try again or call them. Called ANZ and the person over the phone said that the maintenance was over and not to worry as the application wouldn't have gone through.
I tried again and it gave the same message, so I called back and the person said to keep trying and if it doesn't go through then to call back on Monday. On my 5th attempt I finally managed to get one to go through.
On Monday and they said the system had registered it as 5 applications with 4 being declined and all 4 will show up on my credit report. The complaints person said they can't tell me for sure if they'll be able to remove the 4 declined applications. ANZ said it will take 4 working weeks for them to reach a decision on whether or not they can remove the 4 declined applications and credit checks on my file.
The fifth application attempt is still pending but ANZ said they'll leave a message on file for the credit assessor and hope they take this situation into consideration but most likely I will be declined for the fifth application. Due to all this.
I'm really worried this will effect my future applications when I was just following their advice.
Has anyone been in a similar situation ?
This is the message which came up.
have you checked your credit file on the multiple free credit check websites to make sure there is no defaults or bad marks on it?
