Would you buy a Dell XPS 8910 with the 20% off sale today?

My old iMac is close to the end times. I'm just at the beginning of exploring replacement options… including the switch to a PC. I'm eager for more horsepower to do video intensive tasks.

With that in mind, I notice this deal on the eBay Dell store: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/391549809129

I've been cross checking with MSY and it seems like it's… pretty good? Can you help me get my bearings here?

imo i would configure a system to cater to my needs and if you are not confident in building the pc on your own, you can pay pccg or msy to configure it for you. should be cheaper this way i reckon.

No, I have a very powerful machine but I believe you can assemble something similar for $300-500 less. I would save $800-1000 personally as I would only buy the CPU/MOBO/Graphics card, $400-450 + $400-450 + $100-150 coz I have/don't need the rest. Maybe you too. Plus that PSU doesn't look powerful enough especially if you wanted to upgrade later (1080/SLI?), that would be wasted.

@StockWilly and @pal, thanks you guys. I'm not in a huge rush to make a purchase but this advice is appreciated. You've talked me off a ledge here :)
