    • +2

      how much is Optus perks?

      • -3

$9 for kids and no booking fee. So for 5 movies = $45

5 movies with these including booking fee = $46

        Massive difference ;-)

        • I thought online booking fee was $1.10 each ticket.

          @grizz_li:

  • No George st. Again

    • All the cool kids go to George St

  • This doesn't have to be used all at once with 5 dif people, right? In theory I could go to the movies 5 dif times on 5 dif occasions and use 1 of the 5 tix each time (pre June 30), yeah?

    • +3

Yep think of it as getting 5 redeemable vouchers.

      • Cool. So $8 bucks per. Not bad for Aus. I normally hold off and binge on cinema when in Thailand, where it's as low as B120//$4.50 aud on Wednesdays.

        • …where I happen to be anyway at certain times of the year, before anyone points out that it's hundreds of dollars to fly there.

        • I also enjoyed very cheap movies in Singapore recently. Pity about the forced subtitles, however.

        • -4

I also torrent movies… As low as $0.00 anytime

        • @brokeunistudent:

Why is the text on that comment faded?

It's getting cheaper/better, but you still can't fully replicate the positive aspects of the cinema experience at home. Plus if one did choose to torrent, there's still loads of stuff they can't get a decent quality copy of for months after its theatrical release. If you're impatient to watch certain movies and have zero tolerance for sub par cam torrents, then this is an attractive deal.

        • @BigDave:

Personally it didn't take long to get used to/zone out from the forced subs. It was more of an embuggerance to time it so I'd come in just at the start of the actual movie and avoid the propaganda clips and ridiculously loud ads for Coke and Isuzu 4WDs that play before every single fillum. Also there's an ongoing A/C problem at SF Cinema in the mall in Patong where it ends up feeling like Sydney in the shade in June. Only time I needed a jumper, jeans and socks in Thailand was in there.

@crankycarrot: FYI Comments fade to grey after they get more -ve than +ve votes. Once they have 5 negative votes or more, they automatically collapse.

        • @therog1: Cool. Thanks for explaining.

  • Can't you just watch these for free on the internet? Oh wait.

  • +1

Is it the Eros or Crazy Horse cinema?

  • Not again..lol

    • +2

Being a gerbil, I'm sure you've seen worse.

    • +1

Says an animal who hides in mens bottoms

    • I'll probably try and gauge the time when there's least likely to be undesirables in or just leaving there and go use my tix then. It's all about working the angles when it comes to nickel and diming everything.

  • Here we go again. Adult movies!

  • They should be serving XXXX for these

  • I'm up for some adult movies.

  • +1

I haven't been back to event after all hoyts started upgrading to the reclining chairs, it just feels like the true cinema experience now. Also my local Liverpool event is pretty gross.

    • (profanity) yes, those automated recliner chairs at Hoyts are the best! I just wish the tickets wasn't so expensive though.

      • Does Hoyts have cheapo Tuesdays? And similar deals as the Event 'watch 6 movies get 1 free deal'?

        • I'm not sure, not that I am aware of, but would like to know if there are.

        • +1

@Smol Cat: with optus tickets I think it goes to around $15 a ticket, I honestly don't mind paying the extra though just for comfort and experience, I even love the little candy cart that comes in before the movie!

        • +1

@ohhidayo: I totally agree, I have been happy to pay the extra price as the environment due to the extra large seats is just so much better. It's seriously the only reason we have been going to see movies now, after years of not going due to being able to download the movies at home.

  • I bought voucher …and book tickit at Parramatta….i m charged extea 4$…i dont know Y ….?

    • +1

      Did you book online?

    • '• Use your voucher to book online at eventcinemas.com.au. Online redemption attracts a booking fee.'

    • Vmax costs $4 extra…

Most misleading title since i won that booby prize….

  • +1

I am here to check those hilarious comments…

  • Is this only for booking online? can i show at cinema

    • +1

You can show the printout or in the bar code in your email at the cinema, but if you book online it will attract additional booking fee.

  • Any 4x Adult wants to join me for a movie on the weekdays!

  • I'm gonna take a wild guess here, but if there is no button to buy these vouchers on the webpage anymore then I take it this deal has expired?

    • Yes it appears it's now expired :(
