I'm not a business owner, but I would recommend Xero for your accounts/payroll. It can really speed up a lot of tasks.

cash, i pay all mine in CASH MONEY!

  • I use Xero for accounts. It allows for easy management of staff payroll as well as customer invoicing.

For bank account, I use Bank West Business Banking. It is fee free and hooks into Xero. So, reconciliation between account and Xero is just the click of a button.

For super, I use the Small Business Clearing House.

    • Which Xero plan are you on?

Sorry if you already know this, but if you are on the Premium plan ($60/month), it's got auto super - so good.

      • I am on the Premium plan, but have not looked into the auto super functionality.

  • I used MYOB but ditched them after 6 months in favour of Quickbooks.
Bendigo Bank - The only bank I have ever been into where the manager greets you by name.

    • I used Quickbooks for one of my other companies and it was terrible. I found Xero to be much more user friendly.

      • Worth considering. It's included in the price, literally go to the superannuation screen, tick who to pay, and press OK. Sends a SMS to your phone to verify, than Click Super (clearing house) processes it and debits your bank the following business day.

Needs to be setup, but you just invite Xero in to do that.

For me, it cuts down the steps and minimizes the chance of human error (transposition, for e.g.).

  • I would only use Xero if you have simple payroll and someone who knows what they are doing set it up.

I have recently spent a lot of time fixing people's payroll records because they didn't do it properly the first time, and xero is not user friendly to edit.

If your payroll is not the same every week I would choose one of MYOB's offerings.

    • Get the accountant to set it up and train your admin person on how to do the pay runs. Once you know how, it is a simple process do the payrun every fortnight or month.

Casual staff (with overtime, penalty rates, etc) is a bit of a pain and I spent the first few payruns manually doing it and then comparing with what Xero was doing to ensure it was all correct.

  • EXO MYOB PAYROLL….

  • What are they using now?
