Fiji Airways is having a sale on flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles. Travel in May - Jun/17 and Aug - Oct/17, USA SUMMER. All flights have a stopover in Fiji, some flights from Melbourne are long enough to get out for a swim/site seeing. Australians do not need a visa for Fiji.

  Hey guys, how does it work with the ESTA? If I wanna go to the US in the next year or so but don't have dates yet should I apply for the ESTA now or wait until I have dates? I don't want to book a flight and then my ESTA isn't approved for whatever reason. Thanks

    Assuming you have an Australian passport, just apply after booking your flights. You do it online, takes 5-10 minutes and is approved instantly. If you're still worried, do it just before you book your flights on the same day, that way you'll be 100% certain that you're all good.

        Unless you intend to go twice.. I used our esta for 2 trips, came home with 5 days left on it… So timing can play out

    jeppetto367 is correct, I visited the states in Feb with my partner - my ESTA was approved instantly, however my partner has a German passport also (which they ask you to enter the details for) and hers took maybe 2 days but was still approved without issue. I assume they just looked into the validity of her documents rather than the automatic approval I got.

    Their business class is more like domestic. No full recline seats etc.
