Socket AM3+ seems like a very strange choice as it's already obsolete. Low end ryzen is cheap and upgradeable.

Your post doesn't list all the parts required such as PSU/kb/monitor, do you need those or are you reusing old parts?

And you'd ideally want 16gb memory, I game on my laptop and sometimes the 12gb ram on that gets nearly all used when I have other stuff open along with games.

    • 16gb is nice but I've still never seen a game use over 8GB by itself (expect current dev builds of Cemu) and when actually tested, so don't feel like it's important compared to say, spending that money on the GPU.

    • Hahahaha yeah I haven't listed everything cause Idk what else to get. I'm a total noob. I got a good onitor already, just need the best specs for a 1k PC.

I'd get a H110 mobo and Pentium G4560 over the FX as the socket is much newer and the CPU performance won't throttle your 1050Ti. Later down the track you'll have way better upgrade options for CPU/RAM compared to the FX

    • socket 1151 will be obsolete so quickly. get an AM4 imo

      • That's also good, but I thought the AM4 might have been a bit out of his budget. That said, I do think a B350 mobo + R5 1400 would be a fantastic combo

For mine I'd be going something like this:

    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/6HHff8

Get the Ryzen CPU which will leave you room to upgrade in the future, plus has good single core and multi thread functionality.

Also the RX480 is great value for gaming at 1080p and 1440p.

Don't bother with the FX its single core is poor and no multi thread functionality.

    • this is a really good list. i don't think i can do much better. get this one OP

    • You're missing a power supply, but otherwise great list

      • nope, the PSU is integrated with the case. its not as fancy as a stand alone PSU but it will do the job reliably.

        • Fair enough. I was just going by the site which said it had no PSU

      • Yep picked that case as includes a 500w PSU which is ok for budget build

    • RX580 are out which is slightly faster and I think the same or cheaper priced as the previous RX480.

      • Not sure about pricing but they are basically rx480 overclocked, hardware the same.

My MSI rx480 overclocks highly to pretty much rx580 speeds

      • certainly not the same price. rx 480 4gb can be found at 260, dont think a 580 or even 570 can match that (in aus)

    • Hawkus, DDR4 3000mhz memory costs just as much as 2400mhz RAM, due to way RAM has increased in price due to lack of supply.

      CMK8GX4M2B3000C15 8G Kit for e.g is $99 dollars,

      and 3200mhz memory is $119

Ryzen seems to benefit from faster RAM, from what I've read on Reddit

and here you can see how much difference going from stock standard 2133mhz —> to 3200mhz is in Witcher 3 (Max, Hairworks off)

    • I'm going to seriously consider this!! Thanks man

No worries mate good luck, you definitely won't regret that setup and will handle pretty much everything at ultra 1080p no dramas!

  • Get a Ryzen 5 - either 1500x or 1600 with a b350 motherboard. This leaves room to upgrade in the future as well, as future ryzen CPUs will be compatible. It'll set you back an extra $100 or so for the CPU - but it'll actually perform well.

AM3+ platform is a terrible choice. It's redundant and performs poorly.
