      Graphics:Intel HD Graphics 620
      and no dedicated….
terrible price for a terrible laptop

        and no dedicated….

Who cares if there is no dedicated graphics, people do actually use notebooks for work and not just playing games.

terrible price for a terrible laptop

In your biased opinion of course it is.

        • Who is talking about playing games?

I was concern about not being able to run drawing programs such as Autocad, 3D Max, etc. Not really worried about games

Why would you buy a notebook with 1366 x 768 if you were going to run CAD software? And why would you buy a notebook without a discrete video adapter if you were going to run CAD software?

This notebook is fine for the majority of people.

        • @Maverick-au: Your facepalm game is strong.

Problem is, it's got the shit screen.

    Display:12.5"HD LED 1366x768 no deal

    • x270 has an FHD option. I have no issue with the Intel GPU… its a 12.5 - wont be playing games on that.

      No FHD option here obviously.

For an extra US $89.88 ($120 AUD) you can upgrade the display yourself to an IPS 1080p panel. LCD display upgrades are relatively easy to do (not much more difficult than replacing RAM or HDD)

This is the cheapest one I could find on the 'bay. The code will not work on this purchase obviously.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-5-LED-LCD-Screen-for-Lenovo-Think…

so basically $1159.20 if you decide to buy the laptop and the display together.

    • Is there a FHD screen option for the Dell Inspiron 11 as well?

    • Do you also need an appropriate cable?

The reason I ask is b/c when I did upgrade my HP Pavillion's dv6 HD -> FHD laptop monitor, the pre-existing cable wasn't compatible (I needed an LVDS cable that supported FHD - luckily I did think about that before-hand!).

So I guess it's important for "wanna-be" upgraders to further investigate if your linked display is a drop-in replacement or if an additional FHD cable is required (or compatible).

      • Good question actually. I don't know if the default LVDS cable has enough pins to accomodate the Full HD display. And the second question is, will the EDID of the screen will read correctly into the system BIOS. If it doesn't, the system won't boot… hmm

I don't have time to research (bit late tonight) but if it helps here is a list of FRU's (Field Replacement Units) that are available for the X270.
        https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/x270_frubom_20170…

It's pretty cryptic, but so far I can see there are three different LCD cables listed:
        01AW438 - LCD cable
01HW953 - FRU LCD cable for small panel (no results on google)
01HY585 - LCD Cable for LCLW (no results on google)

so far I know the 01AW438 is a LVDS cable but I don't know how many pins it has…

Might have to ask a Lenovo technician to get the nitty gritty details.
