this is an absurd amount of money for a pod machine. What can possibly make it that different to the others which are less than half the price?

    • You're eassentially paying for a very very good milk steam/frother.
(I have one of these, as pods suit our consumption and it was a good deal back when there was a Harvey's Amex promo)

  • Curiously, given this is just a pod machine, how is this worth that much? Other than a steam wand, what does it do that a $49 version can't?

    • That's the whole point - the automatic steam wand.

It's no different to the Lattissima range which has an auto milk frother/dispenser, especially when bought on sale like this deal.

If you drink milk based coffees then a proper steam wand really does make a big difference - an Aeroccino or similar just doesn't come close.

The user will have to determine if they see value in paying more for a better machine to produce better coffee.

If you drink espresso or black coffees then there is no difference to the basic Nespresso machines.

Personally I use a grinder + machine setup, but I can appreciate the convenience and easy-of-use that these pod machines offer.

      • The Lattissima steaming is rubbish. I don't know what this Breville one is like but it looks more like what you'd get on a non pod machine so would seem better.

        • The Creatista is really good - you get proper steamed milk just like a real espresso machine.
Basically Breville adopted the automatic steam wand from their Oracle.

If people where in the market for a Lattissima then it would be much better to grab this machine on special as pricewise it is nearly the same.

It's also a much better looking machine too.

  • I tried it out at nespresso store in Brisbane. The steam wand works excellently and the coffe was superb despite it being a pod machine. I love the convenience of pod machines, along with the footprint.

I'm all ears though if you can suggest a non pod that would be as good for $500?

    • the coffe was superb despite it being a pod machine

Pod coffee is what gets served in numerous 5 star restaurants. Nescaffe usually. People usually choose Nescafe in blind taste tests as the one they prefer.

      • A quick google tells me they do it when they are pressed for time (no pun intended). Pods, at least all the branded variants I'm aware of, lack the volume of grinded beans that a regular coffee machine uses. They're never going to get the same richness of flavor because they are size constrained.

Pod machines provide a trade off in convenience and effort that suits some, but there is no way that they would compare to a proper industry coffee machine, please don't kid yourself.

      • Pod coffee is what gets served in numerous 5 star restaurants

Pretty sweet argument, except that there is no such thing as a '5 star restaurant'.

        But sure. Why not.

      Sunbeam EM6910. All. day. long.

Buy half decent beans and spend a few hours learning how to use it.

I have a nespresso machine sitting next to mine, it never gets used

      • Reviews seem really average?

  • The steam wand does a very good job than the Aeroccino but I still won't pay that much for the machine.

I worked with these machines for a video campaign and was amazed by the latte froth they generated. You just drop the milk jug under the wand and press a button. The froth was amazingly smooth considering it was on auto. Barista's from several cafes were just as impressed and said it would be a cafe killer. I use a twin boiler and wouldn't trade it in for a capsule machine - I'd ban them from my home for the waste - but if I had to use one, say at an airbnb house, this would be my pref.

    • Yes, if you're set on a pod machine this is a good one to get for the milk steaming (which is the weak point of most pod machines).

      yeah, that didnt happen.

  • Thanks op, just bought one

  • Price is now $679 - 20% = $543 - cash back

  • What is the difference between plus and without?

Without plus is $594 before discount and cash back

Accordion item 1 of 6What are the differences between Creatista Plus and Creatista?
The Creatista Plus machine offers even greater variety than the Creatista version with 8 different milk textures (as opposed to the 4 offered by Creatista) 11 milk temperatures (5 for Creatista) and an extra fast heat up time (3 seconds in comparison to 10 seconds for Creatista). In addition, the Creatista Plus is made from metal with a stainless steel outer.
