iPhone 5s or SE under $300?

Gday all,
My 15 yo daughter has been saving up diligently and wants to buy an iPhone of her own. I've explained that she's paying for the name, but hey she's 15.
Thing is she's only got about $300 (which, at $11 per hour 6 hours per week work she's worked hard to get!).

Any suggestions of reliable bargain iPhones for her? I'm annoyed I didn't grab new from Australia Post when they had them a few months back but can't live in the past…So refurbished is probably going to be the only affordable option.

    You can get 40 per month deal with virgin including the iPhone SE.
    She could pay you monthly and learn finances etc

    32gb SE was $450 recently. Not sure you could get a new one for much less than that. Anywhere you get a 5s will be old stock/clearance/hard to find. I think she may have to work for a bit longer :/
