stupid question im sure but they wont stop you from buying a gift card with a gift card would they? (i.e. I'm trying to take advantage of the 5% woolies gift card offer that's always available)

  They will stop you. If the gift card is a set denomination then you should be able to do it yourself at the checkout.

  never had a problem at the cash register but if you are worried just do it yourself as those have preset amounts

  I've never had a problem at self-checkout, even when I've called for assistance. For stores without self-checkout, the cashier has always allowed me to use my egift card to pay.
