Just a note, the "regular" sized Tim-Tam Original packets are 200g and have 11 biscuits.

  • +1

Looks like it is flavoured Tim Tams…?

  • +5

i think they are malaysian tehy are parallel import and taste horrid. Negative from me as they taste bad and are no bargain as not the aussie thing

    • +1

true - another case of inferior products meant for another market.

aussie tim tams are 200g and are $2 when on special.

      • +1

they were &1.87 at Woolworth last week

      • +1

hmm no thanks then. I'll take Australian over non-australian any day of the week, especially if it's cheaper. It's kinda funny that the parallel import is both inferior AND expensiver per gram.

        • +9

These Tim Tams are made in Thailand, not Malaysia.

Just a side-note, these Tim-Tam's are not inferior, it's just that they are not made using the same recipe in the first place.

To those of you who are well-travelled, you will know this this does not only apply to Tim-Tams, but also to every other confectionary made by Arnotts, Nestle, Mars Corp, etc.

If you buy a kit-kat in Europe, Japan, China, Malaysia and Australia, You would realise that they all taste different, and that's not due to it being made in Different factories, but by the fact that there is no standardised recipe. Instead, they are adjusted for each economy.

          • @amkssg: generally though - its the 1st world market and 3rd world market that makes the big difference. Products from japan/europe just taste/work different, not inferior. Ususally due to the fact that australians use cane sugar whereas other countries may prefer corn sugar or other.

Oh one way to discern if a product is meant for australia - check the barcode - if it starts with 9, its meant for australia.

          • +1

@amkssg: Exactly. Try the Kit Kats made in the UK - they taste SOOOOOOOO much better than the Aussie ones.

        • +1

FYI Arnotts are non-australian owned anyway. Better to buy biscuits made by Carman's or Paradise biscuits if you want true Australian.

Arnotts, Cadbury, Carrs, Griffins, Nabisco, Players and Sunshine are foreign owned brands.

          • +1

@00: I agree that buying 'true' Australian brands are better but theres a lot of confusion these days between 'Australian owned' and 'Australian made'.

At worst, Australian made is better since it is made in Australian factories with Australian employees and as such, the money paid for the item would (indirectly) go to them.

Australian owned products on the otherhand could be made elsewhere and as such, your money is going overseas. I recall seeing a Panadol advertisement in reply to Herron's 'Australian owned' ads, which stated that Panadol was made in Australia whilst Herron tablets are made in the US.

            Just something I found interesting…

            • +1

@johnn: Yeah Panadols $#!t me - they are made in India, but says nothing on the pack about that.

            • +1

@johnn: Herron is now foreign owned as Sigma Pharmaceuticals has been sold off…

    • +1

FYI: I saw these today, and the packaging looked different enough for me to believe they weren't legit.

Oh, and the shop I went into had Mother 4 packs for $10, so not sure if the V 4 packs are everywhere, because I didn't see them at all.

    • +1

I think they are made in Indonesia.

    • Those tim tams are rough.

  • +3

nothing original about those tim tams

  • +1

im not going to buy them, but heres a direct link: http://www.rejectshop.com.au/assets/images/catalogue/large_8…

  • +1

I'd personally rather pay the bit extra knowing that I'd get genuine Tim Tams.

    • +2

Don't neg him, he speaks the truth. These are TimTams by branding only. This are in no way similar to Aussie TimTams. They're disgusting. Parallel Import? Well maybe, but not really because Aussie TimTams are made in Australia! They're just imported crap.

  • +5

Do the imported Tim Tams still come with three wishes?

Obviously the first wish is going to be burned on the "OMG, wish I had some real Tim Tams…"

The other two wishes are up to you.

  • +1

I don't know much about Tim Tams, but I know Hersheys chocolate made in China rather than the USA tastes very ordinary indeed….

    • +1

And all Nabisco products sold in Australia are made in China

      • +1

I noticed that lately also. I thought I'd check Aldi alternatives, and they too were made in China (for the equivalent of Kraft Premiums)

  • +1

    nationalist…

NIVEA travel set for men looks like a handy gift to give to those who you don't know what to get. Each item looks pretty small though. Anybody seen it? Is it worth $7?

  • +1

i cant taste the difference tbh

    • +2

maybe you eat tim tams the aussie way davo?

  • +5

some of you people in this thread, need to pay attention to the name of the business, srsly!

Who shops at the reject shop and expects high quality local merchandise?? And who shops there and expects to see cheap imported knock offs?

    • +2

+ve on your comment… it made me laugh ;D

      • +1

its nice to know I brightened someones day:p

    • +1

maybe you need to pay attention to the name of this website? a crappy imported product that tastes like dog turd is not a bargain just because it's cheaper than local stock. who visits ozbargain and expects to see crap food products from the reject shop listed here? no one. maybe you though..

      • +1

i have already referred to the name of business in my previous post (your point on that is?)

from your post, all I can really perceive about you is that you are a connoisseur of dog turd

Personally, Id rather buy a pack of tim tams from woolworths or a milkbar, somewhere where i dont really have to think about the expiry date or quality, but I log onto ozbargain and sort through what I like and what im not interested in, its not my place to say whats relevant here, and its not like ive made any comment to you suggesting you cant express yourself how you see fit.

But the most ironic thing to me, is that I have posted 2 items, you have posted 0 lazed

    • +1

True, but a lot of parallel imports are of similar quality to local versions. These are not.

  • +2

crappy parallel import, nowhere near as good as the original, plus smaller packet as someone pointed out
