This is superb. Don't be fooled by how cheap it is.

You will need a pop filter as well and a shock mount if she's not holding it.

You will need to buy a USB mixer to plug it into such as Behringer Xenyx Q502USB. I picked one up second hand for $67 off eBay.

  • I think the OP was looking for a mic that went straight into USB, without using XLR. However, most direct USB mics are inevitably rubbish.

Anyway, if you're going to record anything decent then I would second an XLR mic and a quality AD/DA USB box, which then becomes the key item to find. At this point, the Xenyx above would seem to be an ideal choice.

Something like the $165 Rode NT-USB would probably sound better than a mic + audio interface that costs around the same price.

  • Blue Spark microphone is what my niece uses for song recording.

Although it is superseded by Blue Yeti

Blue Yeti is pretty good, as it has 3 built in mics that make 4 different sound pickup patterns.

    • Appreciate the recommendations. She ended up buying the Blue Yeti Pro, which she loves!

  • Thanks for the suggestions. The Blue Yeti & the Rode NT-USB both look like good options. Would anyone recommend one over the other?
