Great set of kitchen scales! Just don't forget to take the foam packing feet out before using it for the first time..

Wow I got a no name scale off eBay for $10. Use it almost daily for the bread maker ingredients. Works great

This one must be 7 x better for $70?

  • my kitchen scale from amazon suffers battery power losing issue. ie. it loses power even when I shut it down. Not sure is this scale any better?

I've had one of these for about 7 or 8 years. Use it daily. Still going strong.

Never used the timer or the thermometer. Seem kinda pointless.

      • thanks mate. Sounds attractive. it's hard to justify the price though.

yeah. if you are paying extra for the stuff you won't use, I think you can probably do better elsewhere.

FWIW, I think I only paid about 40 bucks. They are probably worth that.

We have one of these, which we got for free when buying a $249 mixer. So take the RRP is 425.3 grams of salt.
Around that same time, I purchased a $7 scale from DealExtreme that had a resolution of 1 gram, and a capacity up to 3kg. I wanted to test it against this Breville, and can say that the DealExtreme one returned the exact same weight, to the gram. So in my opinion, it is not necessary to spend this much.

I have used the thermometer function once, to calibrate my thermostatic tap.

  • Looks like a bidet.

  • This is a very expensive kitchen scale. A decent brand name scale should be $20 or $30

    • I agree, but this scale is better than the typical $10/20/30 scales.

I think I got it for $25 which I'm pretty happy with.
Not sure I'd be as happy for $70.

  • My wife uses her scales every day and used to go through batteries (both 9V and button ones depending on the scale) like wildfire, easily needed replacing every month. We shelled out ~$70 for scales that used AAA so the faithful Eneloops could be used. The additional cost of the scales was paid for by the savings on batteries within about 6 months. Well worth it.

    • I hate that things still use 9V battery (including this scale)!
