Thats really bloody cheap. These are $150 used

    • 150 used seems normal for a the price of 250

      • Why the neg? Ea/ they are $25 cheaper for new not used

So I don't know shit about audio but I bought a condenser microphone without shock mount or pop filter for 18 bucks from Amazon. Shock mounts and pop filters do not cost much.

It's good enough for musicians to use live and it's been recording my neighbour's dogs barking in almost too much detail.

    https://www.amazon.com/Pyle-Pro-PDMIC58-Professional-Handhel…

But you can buy "podcasting" microphones for $150 such as Yeti mics without shock mount of pop filter that everyone recommends and it is nowhere near that 18 dollar mic as far as recording quality.

So why is this so expensive?

After a quick search, I found this mic for $40 delivered in Australia that (from the reviews on Amazon) "performed 99% as well as the" Røde Pro.

I agree with you, it sounds a bit overpriced.

      • That looks like a clone of the original Rode Videomic from 7 years ago.
I paid $250 for it at the time and would interested how this $40 one compares

      It's Australian made

Whilst your mic can record dogs barking, the real test is how accurately it captures the human voice. How it rejects noise from contact or behind it. S/n, distortion, frequency range yadda yadda…

Rode as a brand is up there (somewhat)
This one has the physical shock mount as well as noise/wind cancellation.
Recommended as a minimum when recording video on DSLR's or consumer cameras (obviously a boom setup or lapel wireless mics will be much better, if possible)

I haven't seen the Pro R for much under $200, let alone 2 for $250

  • Why is it coming up as EXPIRED? when it actually is still live

    • It got ozbargained. The offer is being removed from the web page now, but publishing takes a few minutes.

  • Just made an order for pick up. Does that mean it won't be available?

    • Someone will call (or email) you to let you know if your order made the cut and what the ETA is.
      Fingers crossed for you.

Deal has now been replaced with a free Rode DeadCat VMPR for VideoMic Pro R Valued at $49.
    Thanks for playing everyone!

  • damn! just saw this.. did anyone get the deal that wants to go halves? :D

Update: called them up and my order said dead cat bonus instead of the bonus video mic pro :(

    • +1

That's B.S you should have said that, that's not what was said when you were purchasing it, otherwise get a refund. You can get the mic for 200 with free shipping at other places.

Got a refund/cancelled order. Said at the time I ordered the bonus was bonus video mic pro and had screenshot but no can do.

  • How's this compared to a Zoom H4?
