Smart Home Setup with Xiaomi Mi Home, Yeelights, IFTTT, Google Home and Domoticz

I have a few questions regarding xiaomi mi home smart products, yeelights, docomitz, and IFTTT and google home.

I currently have 3 xiaomi wifi (not zigbee) sockets. and rgbw yeelights.

I ordered door sensors, buttons switches and motion sensors and now realise i need the gateway to get them to work.

Question is will my wifi sockets work with sensors etc through the gateway or do the sockets have to be zigbee too?

If i was to get the zigbee sockets could i use the whole set up on the singapore server to better integrate with my yeelights or would i have to still use 'chinese' server (need to to use mi home app) thus not being able to integrate with yeelights. (as they have to be singapore server to work with IFTTT -> GH). Therefore at the moment sockets and yeelights cant be configured together in scenes using either yeelights or mihome app.

if i also get zigbee sockets i know i can then use with domoticz. Is there a way to integrate then with IFTTT so as to get working with google home??
or if not what are the benefits of domoticz as the mi home app is already quite good in regard to scenes and switches.

Also any other similar info regarding xiaomi ir blaster welcome

Cheers

Question is will my wifi sockets work with sensors etc through the gateway or do the sockets have to be zigbee too?

I have the WiFi socket and it works fine with all the other Zigbee based devices through the Gateway by using the Mi Home app.

  • You should check out https://home-assistant.io/

I've only just started digging into it, but it's amazingly powerful and supports a ton of platforms. Within an hour of setting it up on my Raspberry Pi, I had it integrated into my LIFX lightglobes, Wemo switch, and Hikvision cameras. Also talks to many web services like BOM and Spotify etc.

    • Looks interesting. Does it support all Mi Home products? I browsed their list and can only find support for Mi Flora and Router.

      • No it doesn't support all the products, it's also not always about if it supports the product or not, sometimes it's the limitations of the product that means it's unsuitable to be added as a device in Home Assistant.

(I'm not sure on your specific devices but I'd have a search around on their forums to see if they have been discussed)

    • sounds great. doest really answer the Qs at hand though.

  • Hmmmm
