Looking for Sports/Luxury Car 25k-35k

Hi im looking for what car to buy looking for something thats either really nice or really fast but need it to be a daily so DSG auto im cool with, Fuel economy does not bother me just as long as its nice to look at or fun to drive, also prefering something modern some ideas i have are:

370Z auto (not sure how fun auto is)
VW golf R (mk6) in DSG auto
Lexus is250 (2013+)

Any other suggestions would be great thanks.

  • The R would be my pick. Get a chip,in it and it will easily match the power output of he 370Z..

    Best handling of the 3,

Do not know if you can get a decent one in your budget range though

    • thanks for your input i could squeeze another couple thousand in i guess
although the new MK 7's are way better from what i hear and it kinda puts me off the mk6 unfortunatly the mk7's are like 40-50

      • Wouldn't say 7 way better. I would take a MK6.

Updated Golf R due soon which may drop the price of MK7

i agree lexus does look better but dosn't have the power id like to have

      • same thinking here. I would love a lexus, my friend just bought one for 25k old but low KM.

        Shame that not enough grunt.

Best update your op then. You asked for really nice or really fast, not both.

        • nah either way i gotta go with 1 and i still dont mind lexus

        • @jonez1213:

The previous gen is350 is a lovely car.

In f-sport spec it looks a mile better than the new gen.

        • @malich:
          will definetly check it out

        • @jonez1213: I bought our 2011 is350 for 25k. For 35k or a bit more you might stretch to the later model shape.

    • id rather the Golf interms of looks and power

Can't question the looks, this is individual preference, no objective answer. However power you are incorrect:
VW Golf: 1.4 litre turbocharged TSI engine, 110kW, 0-100km/h in 8.2 sec
        Renault CLIO R.S. : 1.6L Petrol Turbo, 147kW, 0-100 km/h in 6.7 sec

all 3 choices are pretty girly looking. you're a girl right?

    • what is in your opinion a mans car?

Can't go wrong with a Hilux.

Borderline on your budget is the M135i. Big engine, turbo, small car, rwd. Lexus interior puts it to shame though…

    • Now this is a very good suggestion my friend you hit it right bang on the head, if only the BMW front looked better although this is definetly on my list now

    • future problems with oil

    Aurion

  • Subary WRX (turbo, AWD, manual, chick magent) etc..

  • Just did a quick search on Carsales.com.au for suitable cars, some models you may not have thought about yet:

    Audi TT
    Nissan 370Z
    Nissan Skyline
    Renault Megane RS265
    Toyota 86
    BMW 135i

  • V8 Commodore??

So many performance enhancing options available.

With an upgraded camshaft & supporting mods you're looking at ~340kw at the wheels from a 6L or 6.2L.
Add a blower with your camshaft and it'll be close to 500rwkw.

Plus you don't have to listen to those disgusting 4 or 6 cylinder sounds.

    • sounds good mate would have to check that one out

  • why you get civic type R or RS

    • because i currently own a honda and dont really like it after something lux or a turbo sports car

  • wrx?

  • If you don't want to lose much on depreciation e46 m3, e39 m5 or early boxter S

  • The Golf R is an absolute rocket however you won't get any 'cool' points because it's such a common car, looks like a regular golf and that dsg fart makes me cringe. I'm the type of guy to be put-off a car if it's too common on the road. My vote is the 370z because it looks the coolest. Although I am biased because I own a 370z (manual) :P

I'd say a Ford Focus RS. Do take that one for a spin and compare it to the Golf.

if you're open to older cars, try a last gen Lexus GS450h. Very fast and quite packed on features. 0-100 in 5.9 and you get under 7L/100Km if driven not too aggressively thanks to the hybrid system. It is a big car though, so not very sporty.
Should be able to get them for under $25K.
And it will be reliable thanks to toyota.

If looking at the 370z, cross shop it with the CKV36 and KV36 Skyline models. They are the same as the Infiniti models we get here and are simply just a badging conversion for the Japanese market. Having driven quite a few myself, they are phenomenal cars and drive much better than either the 3 series C Class or IS series from the same generation. (this is true for the 370gt [2009+ models] The older 350gt is pretty average to drive) Check them out and I would recommend going through an importer rather than buying one already landed since you can get a much better deal through an importer and choose the exact specs you want. Private seller and dealer-in-stock Skylines command a much higher premium.

    • I actually had few R33 GTSTs, TRD Chaser and a 350gt coupe (v35 skyline) in the past. I'd definitely pick V36/G36 compared to the 370z. Good advise regarding importing. If you know someone in japan, easier to import from them. I did 3 imports and they all appreciated when I sold them.
