This is a bit more of sharing an experience than anything as it kind of just left me a little bewildered.
I walked into Good Guys Moorabbin and found one of those fancy copper pedestal fans (my wife loves anything copper). It was stored on an overhead shelf above some fridges (seems like it's been parked until summer as the cooling section had all been replaced with heaters).
I asked if they had any left or even any floor stock and the lady did the whole "oh we probably don't have any more because it's a seasonal item" (obviously couldn't be bothered checking). So I asked if they could sell me the one on the shelf, at which point she heaved a sigh and said she'd ask the manager. She came back and told me that they couldn't sell it to me because they "couldn't reach it". Yet right behind her was a person on a scissor lift, and he'd been using it to reach other items on high shelves on the other side of the store the whole time she'd been giving me this excuse.
It's really not a big deal that I couldn't buy a fan off them, but it was just the completely unhelpful attitude that threw me. Maybe there are some work safety rules that prevent them from reaching for things high up (but how did they get it up there in the first place then?) or maybe they didn't want to deal with their system telling them the item couldn't be sold outside of the season. Either that or TGG are swimming in so much money that they really didn't want any of mine.
Either way, it's this kind of attitude that drives potential customers away from future visits. At least I wasn't tempted to spend any money that day.
So, you're no longer a fan of TGG?
