Easy Solution for Phone Replacement

My Nexus 6P has been suffering the early shutdown bug for a few months (it's been in the news a fair bit lately… http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/04/14/google-may-sued-nexu…).

It was bugging me for a while but I feel like it's recently gone from shutting down around 10-15% to 20% so I decided to contant Huawei. They acted like the issue didn't exist and as soon as they found out I bought it from Vodafone insisted I go through them. My understanding from shows like The Checkout was that they should be taking ownership as manufacturer rather than insisting I went through Vodafone. When I explained the whole thing to Voda guy he said I'd have to send it in, wait ? number of weeks and then it'd come back fixed. I'm dubious as in the past the telcos have not properly understood issues and/or in any case not fixed them properly. I was hoping Huawei would deal with this as I figure they'd know the problem and how to solve it quickly.

What I would really like is to Huawei/someone to send me a refurb to keep or a temp, and collect/deliver my phone as getting to a Voda store is a bit of a pain for me (I bought it online).

So my questions are:

  1. Should I let Huawei do this?
  2. Is it better to go through Vodafone or Huawei?
  3. Is my ideal scenario possible?

  • Google offering atrocious customer service again, nothing new. You can see why the charge the same as Apple!

    • When I bought a nexus 4 direct from Google and it developed a fault Google sent a replacement (putting a charge on my card that they would hold until they received the old one). If I got something like that I'd be happy but im guessing Google won't want to to know as I didn't buy direct from them and Huawei built it…

      • yeah. I had the same issue, however, bought my 6P directly from Google. My phone was out of warranty yet, to my surprise, they were still happy to replace it.
