Rust Proofing Kia Pregio Campervan - Is It Worth It?

Hi ozbargainers.

I have a 2002 Kia Pregio converted to a poptop campervan. The van will be spending most of it's time outside now after being garaged. It is in very good condition.

I'm interested to hear opinions if it would be a worthwhile investment to have it rust proofed. Also where would be a good place to get it done in the eastern states? It is mostly in locations away from the coast but spends a month or so in Tasmania each year.

Thanks.

    Kia Pregio

isnt that the worst van ever made?

  • Can you upload a photo?

    • I'm not sure how to upload photos on ozbargain.

  • I say don't bother, but make sure that any of the conversion process that goes on keep the paint in tact.

As far as I know, rust proofing of vehicles means spraying some stuff into crevices and under the body. If that is being done to a 15yo vehicle, you'd likely just be trapping the grime up against the paint.

Buy some fish oil or fisholine from SCA, spray it inside the doors, crevices and anywhere else water may sit. Best done when you are not going to use it for a while as it will stink. Job done.
