Interfere? 2x same WL Toys RC Cars?

Hi. Been years since I looked at RCs
One of our boys got this http://www.banggood.com/Wltoys-A979-118-2_4Gh-4WD-Monster-Tr… one for xmas

his brother wants a similar one.

In the old days you used to tweak the frequency… but are these new ones electronically locked to the car (e.g. as in a sync?)

Short of the question. Can they use the same type of car and remote in the same space and individually control the cars?

I have the newer A979-B and it has no issues with interference when running alongside another of the same type. Shouldn't be an issue these days with 2.4GHz (haven't seen any cases)- I know that some of the older RF based transmitter/receivers had trouble with interference though.

Just noticed the main gear om the driveshaft in the existing one we have has gone bust so not sure if I should buy another.

Maybe a spare part.
