Bose Sued for Logging Listening Habits

Apparently OzB's favourite NC headphone brand is being sued for 5M in US for logging listening habits and privacy intrusion via app. I guess there's some room for profit debate here?lol

Here's a list of allegedly affected devices: QuietComfort 35, SoundSport Wireless, Sound Sport Pulse Wireless, QuietControl 30, SoundLink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones II, and SoundLink Color II.

  • The most popular deals I see here are for the QC25 and 35 - models that aren't on that list.

    • My bad. The list was taken straight from the BBC article which didn't include the QC35 since the plaintiff was using a QC35 and the list was in supplement to the QC35

      From the article:

Legal papers filed by Edelson said Mr Zak downloaded the Bose Connect app soon after buying a pair of QuietComfort 35 headphones.

  • This came up when I started seriously considering a pair of QC35s…

this only affects you if you use Bose Connect app right? I can't think of any other way for them to observe listening habits let alone transmit them to HQ

      Hallelujah that booty!

  • i soon got suspicious when it would not let you get into the app without having your location on. like why does a headphone need to know where i am? so i had my suspisions that bose is starting to spy on its customers who use the bose connect app. thats why i uninstalled it on my phone.

  • i hope they heard what i listen too

  • I would think that if it's in their privacy policy, and you agreed by using the app, then there's no case.

Intrusive? Yes. Illegal? Doubtful. Unique? Ask Google Play Music, iTunes, Spotify if they DON'T keep any logs…
