A handy (although pricey) addition for users of LIFX and other connected items, the Logitech Pop Home Switch Starter Pack is currently 40% off at Amazon. Includes the bridge and 2 switches. Add-on switches are still at their regular price (though can save a little on combined shipping if you are going to need them).

Note that the bridge is universal voltage but does have US pins so an adapter is required. Each switch can be programmed with 3 commands, on a single press, double press and long press and battery life is said to be about 5 years.

EDIT: This is the older non Homekit compatible version that includes 2x buttons. The Logitech site has been updated to reflect the new POP Smart Button product which is Homekit compatible but only includes 1x button (and will only be available from Apple initially).

  • Nice one. Upvoted.

I bit the bullet a few weeks back and forked out a crazy $138.
    Ouch. :(

amazon has a price guarantee. Jump on livechat with them, I did it once with an SSD. The only catch was the price dropped again, and they only refund the difference once, when you first claim, they won't keep making up your loss if the price falls again (which seems unlikely in this case)

        I did it twice.
First time they said it can be done no later than two weeks since the purchase (even if it takes a month to get it delivered).
Second time they said it can be done no later than a week since the purchase.
I didn't find any actual policy.
It was over a year ago. It might be no longer a case.

        Worth asking anyway.

ooh that article is bad news.
Guess once you approach being a monopoly, you don't need to sweeten the deal so much :(

  • Thanks! I've been interested in these because they supposedly work offline with LIFX (via local network).

Recent HomeKit support has been added. Is this the old model without HomeKit? I find their product line very confusing.

    • I think the HomeKit support was only just released in the last couple of days? This Amazon listing for the POP starter kit has PN: 915-000274 and the Logitech website for the POP starter kit with HomeKit support lists PN 915-000299. So I'm guessing this is the old model without HomeKit support.

As far as I can tell it's the Hub that needs the support, the switches are ok. If that's true I'm still going to get this one now, it's a great deal, and if the Hub (with HomeKit) is released in Australia later in the year I might upgrade to the new Hub with an AU power plug.

  • Does this work with Belkin Wemo lights? The product page mentions the Belkin Wemo platform, but not the lights specifically.

EDIT: at this point seems like Logitech POP only supports the wemo switches, but not the lights.

    • You could create IFTTT applets to control your Wemo lights with the POP switches.

  • Is this the old model?

Looks like it, Logitech website part number for the current 'Home Switch Starter Pack' is 915-000299 but the Amazon listing is for 915-000274.

      • Whats the difference?

  • What is the range on the buttons to the hub. seems like they are Bluetooth to the hub so not far and not through walls?

    • It is Bluetooth so 10m. I've usually found Bluetooth is fine through a wall or two but haven't tested the Pops specifically - just Bluetooth headphones.

  • Thanks OP…grabbed a set to use for Harmony activity triggering.

  • Any other brand and I would be tempted, but after buying Logitech Alert cameras I will never purchase Logitech again. Good luck if they do not work.

You'll need the Pop button bridge, which will be sold exclusively by Apple to start with.

Owners of earlier Pop Home Switches can update the software to get compatibility with all new Logitech-supported home devices, but not Apple's HomeKit, unfortunately.

    • Noticed in that article it mentions the kit gives you the bridge and one button, so makes sense why the list price is now $59.99 on the Logitech site. The kit is listed there now as containing one bridge and one button.

The new product has also been renamed, the old non HomeKit version with 2x buttons is called POP Home Switch, the new HomeKit compatible with 1x button is now called POP Smart Button (though they haven't updated the name next to the part number.)
