Flat bar road bike / commuter (Perth)

  if you're looking at mid-high end components on a flat bar, expect to pay $1500+

  Not sure if that blows your budget (especially for a commuter) but just keep it in mind.

  Go to gumtree and test ride the ones that fit your size and requirements.

  For flat bar commuters, you would be looking at Trek 7.5 or FX 5 for the newer models. Higher numbers have higher tier components.
  Giant Escape or Specialized Sirrus are also good choices.

  I can be swayed, just use to a mountain bike running XT not sure if it necessary for a commuter (only 12km each way).
