Need Help with Online Pricing Error!

Hey guys, I made 2 orders on 2XU's website on Friday after I happened upon what I guess is a pricing error. The items were listed as full price, however when I checked out I noticed there was an item "order Discount" which was giving me a $400 discount.

Naturally I completed this order and made another one for some other things I wanted.

Today I get an email saying they had a technical issue and that I need to pay an extra $400 per order or to cancel them and refund the amounts I paid.

Just wondering what consumer law says about this (I couldn't find a clear answer) and what exactly I should write in an email back to them!

Thanks!

They are well within their rights to give you the option of cancelling the order or paying the difference.

I'd cancel the orders and start again. Did you pay with a credit card? The refunds should be easy to process from their end. No one is ever obliged to honour an obvious pricing error, especially online.

Paid via PayPal as I assumed this might happen!

      • I suppose it was worth trying just in case. Like some recent David Jones posts.

Have you seen any David Jones price errors be honoured?

        • @sween64: Not yet. Maybe one day.

@PJC: I once ordered four items for one cent each. David Jones refunded me six cents :)

        • @PJC: Not online but Member Dontreadthis got a duffle bag at David Jones due to a price error being honoured.

You rolled the dice, you lost. Happy playing next time. Yeah, we've all done this - seen a great deal, ordered it and then the seller cottons on to what is occuring. Happens quite a bit for things that show up on Ozbargain - probably 'cause of the surge in orders. Sometimes it does pay off, so worth trying, but don't expect to be honoured.

  • Take the refund mate

  • LOL you actually think you were going to get them?

Well, I guess the answer depends on whether the contract was complete.

when it comes to pricing error, sellers are more likely to be protected. Just take the refund.

The reasons I know this because in the past, I experienced the same thing, and when I called Consumer Affairs Victoria to complain, and they said there are nothing much they can do.

The first mistake was not sharing the bargain here
