Does anybody know how to properly open a tissue box so that on the first try you get only 1 tissue at a time? I always seem to pick a bunch of 10 before they come out 1 at a time. Perhaps this is just me, would like to know everybody's strategy in opening tissue boxes.

Be more careful taking the first one out
It sounds like you're buying coles tissues.
Tissues are very thin and they stuff a lot into the box, so when you retrieve tissues from a brand new box you end up also taking about 10-20 tissues at once.
The problem solves itself over time when the box is no longer as full.

If <deity> had wanted you to open tissue boxes you would have had smaller hands.
Stanley knife around the perimeter, between 1-5cm down from the top surface. Lift top of box clear, there's your tissues ready to go.
Like a circumcision, but the tissues are on the inside, not the outside.

Of course keep the box intact, you can always use it for patching up around the house
I think the answer is just going very slowly for the first couple, take 10 seconds or what have you to pull one out.

Why don't you wait until you have a nasty cold to open a new box - that way, pulling out 10 on the first go is fine.

I use my sleeve, if no sleeve then my arm
I pull the tissues out the side of the box and place them into a wooden tissue box. Looks nicer and no one needs to know I'm not using expensive brands of tissue paper

Vague question indeed. How do I take only 1 tissue paper out at once after I remove the lid of the box?
Just be careful with the first one. No one can tell you the answer to this silly question in words without demonstration (only if you actually wanna know).
