Fellow OzBargainers talked about cables on the other post so I mentioned it to the people running the official Tronsmart AliExpress store and they said they'd do a special deal for OzBargainers.

Tronsmart CC05 USB Male to USB Type-C Male Cable 1.8m priced at USD$8.99 on their store but if you message them with the code NOPENDING they'll do it for USD $4.88/~AUD $6.45 (45.7% discount). Specification here

Tronsmart CC05P USB Male to USB Type-C Male Cable 1.8m - 2 pack priced at USD $14.99 on their store but if you message them with the code NOPENDING they'll do it for USD $7.28/~AUD $9.60 (51.4% discount). Specification here

Enter NOPENDING in the "Leave a message for this seller:" field on the payment page and the seller will update the price accordingly.

Disclosure: I ticked "I am Associated with the Store" because they reached out to me to help post since the last time I posted got them such a positive response and they figured out who I was. I'm don't work for them. I don't get any freebies. I don't receive any money or other incentives. Simply helping them out and hopefully helping some of you OzBargainers get a bargain :)

  • Does this cable supports Dash/VOOC charging on the OnePlus 3T?

    • hey WaveZero, I don't work for Tronsmart nor am I the seller so I don't know the answer to your question unfortunately. I did go to the Tronsmart website and attached a link to the specifications in the description so that might have the information you're looking for.

      • ooh tronsmart ….. to boxes …… do they have a s912 based one preferably with android 7 yet and a deal on it.

i still have the old s905 which works fine but won't get any android updates moving forward and the new chips have more codecs.

        • Tronsmart have S912 but they're 6.0.

      • You shouldn't have clicked associated then because now it looks like you represent the company.

And I'm getting asked questions I don't know necessarily know the answer to :) (thanks to Clear for helping though!)

The field does say "Tick this if you are affiliated with this store/service provider in any way (e.g. official store representative, employee, business partner, contractor, friend/family of staff member). IMPORTANT: Failure to declare affiliation may result in sockpuppeting penalties." so i thought since i am loosely connected I better tick it. If the admins are fine with me not ticking that box I'm happy with that!

As I wrote, I'm simply helping out and don't get any benefit from it.

Unlikely, as I believe they use proprietary tech, which is why there also aren't any Oneplus 3 fast charging power banks (even their own one doesn't support it).

      • Alright, thanks for the replies guys!

Sigh, I really don't want to spend over $20 on a cable for dash charging.

        • Problem is OnePlus/Oppo are using higher amps to achieve faster charging while other proprietary tech are using higher voltages. Tronsmart officially support Qualcomm and Huawei's fast charging tech with their cables.

  • How about some longer ones? 3m? I would also need a shorter 0.5 - 1m one for the car.

    • hey trippy, just had a look at their store and it looks like they don't have anything longer than 1.8m. They do have 1m ones though. Want me to ask them if they can do a discount for the 1m products?

  • are these 3A ones?

    • The maximum is 2.4A. I haven't seen any A to C cable that can't carry that.

Any deals for USB c to USB c?
They always seem to be around $10 ( tronsmart is even dearer $13 with discount included). Bangood have good blitzwolf ones for about $9 normal price. Can't anyone sell them for around the same price as the USB to USB c like you listed.

Also looking for C to C

      • PVA and droodle,

I messaged the contact and they said they'll need to check tomorrow when it's a working day whether they can put anything on special for type-c to type-c cables.

  • I've noticed Type C cables are a lot more expensive than other USB cables. Is there a Type-C tax, or does it cost more to make them?

    • It costs more as they are more complicated. Eg. see my post below.

      • Hmm. Not good. I puchased some magnetic tip cables so I can use one cable for Type C, Micro, and Lightning off the same cable. Not sure if it will be good enough now.

There are really only 2 questions that need to be asked when talking about USB A to C cables (other than if it is braided):

    1. Is it USB 2.0 or 3.1?
    2. Is it Benson or USB-IF approved?

In this case the answers are 2.0 and yes (https://www.amazon.com/review/R29M6DYWU2R7Y1.)

    • Can you elaborate on why it needs to be Benson or IF approved?

      • USB-A to Type-C adapters and cables need to be spec compliant otherwise there is a chance of damaging your device, cable and charger. Very short version is some of the unapproved cables will pull too many volts and/or amps.

USB-C to USB-C are not affected.

        • Well crap, I just bought a few from Aliexpress and I doubt they are approved.

        • @lostn: What ones or what brands?

        • @Clear: This kind.

It wasn't this seller, but this kind of cable.

It appealed to me because I can keep the different tips inside the devices which will also act as a dust plug. Then I can share one cable for all my devices and save USB ports. Also prevents wear and tear on the device's port from plugging and unplugging every day.

If you're using a MicroUSB cable, with a Type C adapter, is it safe? Will the MicroUSB cables need to be Benson approved as well?

        • @lostn: The issue arises whenever C is 'converted' to another format, so in that case the issue is with the micro to C converter, not the micro cable.

  • I'm interested in C to C Benson approved cables that work with PD.

    • +1

C to C cables do not have any issues so do not need certification.

  • Dont know much about these so pardon if its a newbie question. Im awaiting for my galaxy s8 over the next coming weeks and understands it uses usb-c for charging.

Does anything here helps me with getting extra charging cable that is ozbargain priced? Ideally I would like a short one for the office desk and another longer one in the family hall.

    Thanks!

This should work. But it's USB 2.0 speed, so for transferring data it won't be as fast.

      • thanks mate

They've sent some more deals through for cables but i can't post anything because OzB says there's not enough votes for the 2 posts I've made so far.. so will have to wait until next week. Will post them then so keep an eye out if you're after cables from these guys.

    • I put 'NOPENDING' in the "Leave Message for this Seller" part and was still charged the full price ($20.13 AUD), so my payment has gone through but not for the cheaper price

      What gives?

      • Hey sonicstabber, private message me your AliExpress userid and i'll let them know and will try to get them to sort it out for you.

        • @griftr,

All good, store rep from Tronsmart has sorted everything out for me

        • @sonicstabber: good to hear. I just landed (travelling) and got a message from them that they were contacting everybody and sorting out some refunds. Glad it's worked out. Will ask them for more detailed instructions on how to buy for any future posts.

Just to note that initial payment for the cables will fail. The seller will then adjust the price and you can complete purchase through "My orders" section later.

I ordered the 2 pack of the 1.8m cables and my credit card has been charged the full USD $14.99. (AUD $20.37 by the time it converts and fees, etc.)
I made sure to include the "NOPENDING" in the message for the seller, but it seems this was ignored.
I left a follow up message to the seller in the comments on my order almost 2 days ago now but have not got a response.
Just sent them an email, so will see if they are more responsive to that.

As I have so far paid full price for this, it is not a deal. Not happy.

    • I'm in the same boat, have messaged the seller on Aliexpress who told me I should have completed the order, not paid, and they would adjust the price.

There's no way to place an order without putting in payment details, you put in the "NOPENDING" code and then the only prompt is 'Confirm and Pay', so I've replied saying just that.

@griftr, is there a way to do this?

Seems like they won't adjust the price after the payment has gone through, so looks like I just paid full price. Really poor experience, getting the discounted price wasn't clear (i.e. no notes to not checkout or buy).

      • The seller processed my order (2x 2packs) at the full price though gave a $USD2 discount. So im charged $USD27.38. I've sent a message to discuss the difference though as it's been shipped I'm not sure they will be accommodating.

        • sorry to hear you guys are having issues. I'll reach out to them and will see what they can do. From what others have messaged and posted it seems to have worked for some of the OzBargainers here.

Private message me your AliExpress userids and order numbers and i'll pass it onto them.

I'll be travelling for work from tomorrow but will keep track of things on my phone and try help you guys resolve it.

        • okay, the person who reached out to me about helping them is online and has said that they will definitely work to resolve the issue with their team. I told them that I'd send them all your AliExpress userids so they knew who needed the help.

@griftr: Alex has been in contact with me on AliExpress and is working through with me. Turning a negative experience into a positive one. Thanks for following up.

        • @griftr: Replying to this comment as well to confirm that the Tronsmart rep on Aliexpress sorted out my concerns, all good!

Have sent you a PM with my details just in case

        • @hiluke: good to hear. They seem genuine in wanting to provide good prices and good service. Hence why I'm willing to help them out.. for the moment :) If they get too demanding or if you guys do (haha) then I'll stop. Like i said, i get zilcho out of posting.

          @griftr:

im all sorted now with a PayPal refund. I appreciate your help and that of the seller to sort it out. Thank you!

  • I wasn't clear on how to proceed .. i went through the steps added NOPENDING then wasn't sure about payment as it was for the full amount so left it. A few hrs later i had an email to say that the price had been adjusted and i checked back and paid the new price.

  • OK so i messaged these guys and they said there is no promotion and price as is is best price. Ugh

Sorted after a few messages. Thanks OP
