Do You Prefer Dark on Light or Light on Dark Displays?

Hey folks its been a while since we had a controversial subject like this lol.

Do you prefer dark on light or light on dark displays and why? I have watches with both displays but i prefer dark on light with watches. My stereo is light on dark and it works good when the room is dark it is not to bright.

I find green on dark a good combo until it is backlit then its hard to read.

So what is your favorite combo?

You need a poll. Light on dark for me. I actually used to like those old school orange mono monitors. Other way lights up the room too much.

I like both but for a long recent period of time I liked the light on dark because I am a vampire / vampire mode.

      Thanks, but here's a more real-world scenario:

      Dark on Light:

      Light on Dark:
      http://s99.photobucket.com/user/j_a_lind/media/Seiko%205%20M…

If you're in the dark/night… then a Black/Dark dial or backplate with White/Light coloured facets or numbers is easier to read.
That's why Diver's Watches are Black with Glow-in-the-Dark white hands for readability under the sea.
Also Light on Dark strains your eyes less.

However, if we're talking about perfect sunlight readability… or your laptop's screen… then Black letters on a white background is easier to read.
However, extended viewing strains your eyes more.

In terms of old/retro electronics (think Alarm clocks), the best colour to read at night goes:
      - Black (no strain but no picture)
      - Red (least strain)
      - Green (very little strain)
      - Orange/Yellow (little strain)
      - White (some strain)
      - Blue (lot's of strain)
      - Purple/UV (max strain)

It's why you don't see a lot of cars with Purple or Blue lighting dashboards when driving at night.
