Hey electricblue, I suggest you to grab a Xiaomi when there on sale if your willing to stretch your budget up to ~$150.

Or you can get the Huawei Y6 Elite $109 (Comes with a $40 Vodafone starter pack). I have one and it's well rounded phone. Some cons are:

    Locked to Vodafone
    Only 1 gig of ram

    • What's the difference between Y6 Elite and Y6?

Y6 on sale at Coles atm:

      • Thanks guys, based on your experience, its battery works well untill how many years? 2,3,5 etc?

        • cheap phones usually have replaceable batteries. Also cheap to replace said batteries, although it may be worth while just selling the phone and buying another one after one or two years. Lithium batteries (even without any usage and sitting in a drawer) will lose their capacity over time.

        • @scrimshaw: thanks.

This phone or some used phone from gumtree eg Nokia Lumia 520, Nexus 5, Samsung S3 or Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro 32GB 4G LTE Gold Unlocked (CN Version) etc?
BTW, battery life and 4G feature is imp for me.

        • @electricbluee:

If battery life is a concern I'd be looking at a Xiaomi Redmi 4 / 4a, they have gigantic batteries (although unremovable) but also a fast, but energy efficient chipset.

The Redmi 4A is a cut down version though (with a Snapdragon 425 and a 3150mah battery) but it is the cheapest Xiaomi phone around.

The Redmi 4 Prime is the most high end version (with Snapdragon 625 and a 4100mah battery).

the Redmi 3s (Prime) is somewhere in between the 4 and 4A. ( Snapdragon 430 and 4100mah battery)

        • @scrimshaw:

hey scrimshaw, how's the Redmi Note 2 looking for $80USD right now?

Not out yet and doesn't run Android but has the best battery life.

With the 2G network shutting down this year this phone will be useless.

      • haha i didn't read all the specs of it. What are they thinking with just putting in 2G in that phone. Good eye mate. I was going to buy one for nostalgic reasons

  • Don't get a Telstra Tempo. It's like someone went out of their way to design a device that manages to annoy without even doing anything.

Also avoid anything with less than 1GB RAM, Android has trouble running anything at all with less. I think it's wiser to buy a feature phone rather than an Android device with 512MB.

  • A bit of a bigger stretch in your budget and you can get the Moto G4 Play

  • redmi 4a
