[Solved] Can a Business Refuse to Give Me a Cash Refund?

I bought an item online from an online store only to find out I could've got 10% off with UNIdays. This was conveniently hidden in the footer until I got to the transaction confirmation window. I want to return the item and reorder it at the discounted price but the return policy says that they will offer a voucher for change of mind returns. Can they do this or am I within my rights to get a full refund back to my card?

  • They can do this.

Change of mind return is not a right.
They are being nice allowing you to return it in the first place.

  • change of mind = you're not legally entitled to a cash refund/credit refund or exchange. Them offering you a voucher is generous.

Great, that's all I needed to know! I'll just have to cop this on the chin, thanks guys :)

    • No worries. I'd still opt for the voucher, more likely than not you will shop there again

Have you tried contacting the store? At least give them a chance to disappoint you - they might just surprise you with some olde-style customer service.

      • +1 on this, provided the discount is for a reasonable amount. If you are quibbling over a couple of bucks they probably will be dark on you wasting their time.

      • +1 on this too. It's still worth to try ask them nicely.

  • I do think most stores allow store credit to be used against an order with a coupon.

    • It's Sephora. They won't let you use Sephora gift cards during their 20% off storewide sales so won't be surprised if they won't let you use store credit in conjunction with a coupon.
