Property Claims Consultant or Inbound Call Centre?

Hello guys!

I have recently accepted an offer to work in an inbound call centre at a bank. Literally five minutes later I received a call for a possible position with another bank to work as a property claims consultant. Remuneration is comparable.

My first impressions are that the second line of work would be better however i've already signed the online contract. Both roles do not start till next month.

Cheers

    already signed the online contract.

  • inbound call centre at a bank - generally happy people calling
property claims consultant - generally unhappy people calling

    what do you prefer………..?

I need to switch to your bank, apparently!
I only ever call when they have stuffed up, or there is some ridiculous process of jumping through hoops to get some trivial thing done.
I am, however, obviously courteous the the phone staff.

The main thing with property claims is that I will get to manage different claims and it will not be as repetitive, as opposed to taking calls non stop. Is my impression wrong?

    • I tend to agree with your line of thinking.

  • Are they both big name banks? If not, which bank would have the best career/growth prospects?

Also signing the contract doesnt mean much. You will still be in probation period so can get out of it very quickly if you wanted to take the other job.

  • They are not big 4 banks. However the second option has many subsidiaries within the automotive insurance industry. I might just stick with the first one. Too much hassle, and they seem to be one of the better "call centre" jobs.

  • second role sounds better, sign paperwork, let first job know you have accepted a better offer

  • Don't work call centre unless you are desperate - it becomes very mundane very quickly. 2nd one for sure. Second one sounds like you will use your brain more. Worked inbound collections at Westpac many years ago - horrible job.

  • I have managed to reset the online offer and delay it. It seems like the property claims consultant is pretty much inbound work. The role is for Suncorp. Further more I just realised the person that contacted me is from hays recruitment agency. I don't think i'll pursue this route.

      avoid hays

  • Also I can't seem to differentiate the roles. They both seem to be inbound calls?
