Will supplies dry up like last time?
I tasted them both at the same time and it seemed exactly the same.
Still haven't had the nerve to open my 180 cask for a taste though
I agree. The original was…..hmmmm fuller I found. Richer taste.
Would you be able to tell the difference in a blind test, or was it the placebo effect?
Ohhhh good point. Might havta try it out one time. I've still got a few of the original bottles.
Like most wine/beer/hotel/travel destination awards.
Are restaurant awards any different though?
Add them to the list.
The 1-litre Island Green sold only through airports' duty-free is pretty good too and better value at around the same price from time to time.
Got a couple of them, I prefer the regular green but it's still pretty nice!
Agree. I like to keep a couple of cheaper Scotch for evenings when I feel like the expensive aged single malts will be wasted.
I usually have a bottle of Monkey Shoulder or Blairmhor hanging around too, decent for cheap stuff.
You mean this: https://www.firstdutyfree.com.au/category/liquor/whisky/5061…
$79 for 1 litre
Yes, they have an offer a couple of months back. I think it was 15% off 2 mixed bottles. Good value for a full litre.
I agree, old Johnnie Green is identical to the new stuff. Only diff was the bottle size, old one used to be 750ml compared to the newer one being 700ml. I was silly enough to dispose of the empty 750ml around the time ppl were willing to pay 150-200 for the empty bottle. Crazy!!
Are they still worth anything? I have a carton still unopened
Green is good!
Nah… overvalued and overpriced.
I like Double-Black, the extra smokey flavour is nice.
And of course, Blue… but haven't been able to see that at <$150… its an expensive commodity.
Blue is the overhyped and overvalued one.
I like Blue and Green, not Double Black; so there you go!
@LoopyLou:
Sounds like you don't like peat. That's fine. The only problem with blue is the price. Good whisky but not $170 good.
@YOTR:
Agree.
I'd like a(nother) bottle of Blue, but only if its $140 or less.
That's the limit where my wallet and liver begin arguing.
They are the same. I bought the old one that says 15 year fruition overseas and it tastes the same as the non-vintage stuff bought locally
How is this compared to the island green?
Johnnie Walker entry point for drinkable without coke/dry
In how it's marketed - perhaps. However, I would pick the Green over the Blue any day, regardless of the price.
I just wouldn't buy Johnnie Walker. :)
How about not buying any blended whisky by Diageo?
I'm definitely more of an Islay single malt man myself, but the JW Green label is actually my favourite blend. While I wouldn't pay the full retail for it, I might grab a bottle at this price.
@motor89: Sure, we all have different tastes, but a neg, really?
Also the same price at BWS with the bonus of earning woolies rewards (not that it's worth much).
And better cashback at CR.
Have you tried Johnnie Walker Purple? Mix JW red and blue together.
I think you might have confused JW with SJW.
Will supplies dry up like last time?
possibly will now that it's $54.95 via eBay :)
It has on eBay lol
that award is a joke
still a good drop, though not as good as how green used to be
