Same price at Harvey Norman if it's more convenient, Officeworks are price matching them.

Also $199 at TGG eBay but you can get a few dollars cashback. It was $189.05 there with CAU5 code but that just expired a couple hours ago.

  • Would this be better than Sony Xperia XA??

    • Hell no.

    • With Moto Marshmallow,You can assign the SD card memory as the internal memory but not with Sony.

Nice phone but i think it will come down a lot in price as the Dual Sim will become unusable on 30 September 2017 when Vodaphone phases out 2g .Edit; I do not think that this phone is dual sim anyway.

we have the g4 plus ….. both sim slots can use 3G 4G and it has band 28

      • -1

Yes so do i but we are not talking about the g4 plus .How many links can you find that say the Moto G4 Play 16GB has dual sim? OP says "Dual Sim (4G + 2G)" which means it becomes a single sim phone very soon anyhow

    • +2

Both SIMs are 3G/4G. I have one, it's an excellent phone, very quick, decent camera, frequent security patches.

      • Are you talking about the Moto G4 Play or G4 plus??

        • Play

          @bazzaa:

Not at same time it wouldn't, because Snapdragon 410 modem doesn't support that.

Presently this phone has limited dual sim functionality and will become single sim only once both Optus & vodafone cease operating the 2G network.
The switch off of 2G bands in Australia commenced with Telstra December 2016, Optus April 2017, Vodafone September 2017.
I believe the snapdragon 410 chipset does not support 3G/4G on sim 2 when the phone is operating in dual sim mode.
While sim slot 2 may be compatible with a 3G/4G sim it will default to 2G operation, which is a limitation of the 410 chipset.
The Motorolla G4 Plus has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset.

get the xiaomi note 4X for around the same price. Much more phone for your money (no band 28)

    • +1

you need to back that up with a link for the same price :)

      • -3

Android enjoyed has it for $203 (plus $10 shipping)

        • fantastic place to get swindled out of your money

        • @tonyjzx:

Theyre cheap and ship really quickly with toll (2/3 times…. 3rd time they took a bit longer not gonna lie).

But aliexpress and banggood take much longer and they get loads of praise on here.

All these sites essentially offer you 0 warranty. You get what you pay for.

        • @cheesecactus:

The complaints about AE are not related to how long it takes to ship, but what you get when it arrives. Go read a few reviews

    • Not like for like, missing bands, no local support or warranty. Hence why you pay less for it.

  • Make a nice spare handset
Saw them in The Good Guys fairly cheap last week also.

Anyone got an opinion on the Moto G4 Play compared to the Asus Zenfone 2 which is priced the same?

  • you would compare the 4G plus to the china droids as they hve 1080p screen.

  • Snapdragon 410 is getting very very dated now.

Its essentially the same as the 400 on the original Moto G from 4 years ago.

While its still usable and good enough for basic browsing/apps etc, probably not a good idea to actually spend money on it.

  • ($232 - 20=$202).

    I don't get it :P

  • Just bought one, should be a nice replacement for my mums lumia 520.

Was looking at the xiaomi phones around the same price point (with 5" screens, 5.5 is too big), and the specs arent too different (maybe a newer cpu). But yeah, gotta go for the aussie warranty and faster shipping.

    • so is this dual sim and is 2nd sim 2g or 3g.

      • Its dual sim.

No idea about 2g/3g since we have no plans of using it as a dual sim phone
