Hisense 4K UHD Smart LED LCD TV K3300UW 55"- $795 @ Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, and Others

290

Noticed this 55 inch UHD LED Smart TV from Hisense is back on sale after being on sale last month for this price, then going back up to $998 for the last few weeks. It's a pretty good TV from the user reviews (not many expert reviews kicking around) and seems to have gotten some attention the last time it was on OzB.
This time it's listed as clearance so might be the last chance to get this particular TV before its replaced with another similar model - but at the beginning of its price life cycle, so not this cheap =)

Note - even though good guys says its not available, I picked one up from there last night at $795.

  • We have a bunch of the 65" model at work and I must say, they are a really nice television!

  • Wouldn't you be better off paying an extra $300 for the series 7 55M7000UWG?

    • What are the major differences?

      • The M7000 series supports HDR10, which is what 4K Blu-rays are mastered in. While the TV doesn't hit the UHD Alliance ceritification of 1000 nits peak brightness, it is still brighter than the 3300 series.

    • yep, same question: what's the difference? i've been eyeing the M7000UWG's for a while.

  • i think these sales are to make way for 2017 models…when are they coming? Not sure qualiuty difference?

    what's the difference between 55K3300UW and 55M7000uwg?

      The KU3300 requires the latest firmware to be installed to get HDR over HDMI. The M7000 has Wide Color Gamut HDR and some local dimming.

      • big thanks epazero:)

        thanks for the info. now not trying to be a douche, but what does this mean for actual TV viewing?

          nothing for TV. Our TV broadcasts, are not 4k, or HDR. I have this model TV, and if you are ok to tweak the picture settings, its great bang for buck. You would rather be watching the HD 1080i TV channels through it than the standard def. Foxtel Standard def looks very average but Foxtel HD looks great. You can watch 4k Netflix and YouTube straight out of the box if your internet speeds are up to scratch. HDR content you can watch through USB, or if you have upgraded the firmware (manual process) you can watch over HDMI from a HDR capable player like Xbox One S/PS4 Pro. 3 year warranty is standard.

        • thanks man. very indepth.

        • @epazero:

          Hi epazero, is this good enough to play a ps4 pro. I just bought one and am now looking to buy a television set.

          Thanks

          @varunynr:
          While I don't have a PS4 Pro, many people on this forum using this TV with a PS4 Pro and Xbox One S.
          https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2540051
          44 pages of info about this TV mainly from owners. A number of PS4 Pro experiences.
          If you manually update the firmware to the latest version, connect the PS4 Pro to HDMI 3 or 4 on the back of the TV, it will display in 4K and accept the HDR picture.

        • @epazero:

          wow so this TV is actually HDR 10 standard for XBOX ONE S??

          @GerrardLFC:
          This is a statement from one of the Xbox One S owner in that forum: "the Xbox reports back green ticks for everything relating to HDR10 so it's emulating it somewhere along the line however from the HDR titles and games I've played (Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3) it's absolutely spectacular."
          The general belief is its an 8bit panel, but it does take HDR and produces a very good picture from it, better than just standard 4K resolution. Not much else in the price range with 3yr warranty that could do that.
          The Samsung 6000 models are also 8bit panels.

      • hey epazerp, there was talk of channel changing lag on this model, do you find this a problem?

        • not personally. Similar to our 6 year old Sony HX800. About 2 seconds.

        • I played with one in the store yesterday and it seemed ok to me. Just a slight delay. If you are a chronic channel flicker then it may become irritating I guess.

  • 65 for $1395? https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/hisense-65-inches164cm-uhd-led-lcd-smart-tv-65k3300uw?cm_cr=No+Campaign--Web+Activity--No+Name--Widget_CatalogEntryRecommendation_3074457345618323181--65%22%28164cm%29+UHD+LED+LCD+Smart+TV-productNameLink

  • I just bought the 65" for $1157 from able at Mt Gravatt. Couldn't be happier with it.

      I think the 55 is great at this price. In my case The 65 is big for the room it's in. It's fantastic but I think I would have been as happy with the 55" and the $350 odd cash in my pocket no buyer's remorse or anything though. The one I have does suffer from some backlight bleed I think no different to any other mid tier backlit led panel. And of course the bigger the screen the more noticeable, You only really notice it when going around in the YouTube app on a black background at night.

      I guess that's the reason the 7 series is more $$$

  • Damn. Any deal on the 75"?

    • I bought the 75" for $2665 with free delivery from JB HiFi yesterday, took a bit of negotiating..
