Shipping an item from Australia to the US

What is the most cost effective way to ship an item measuring 36cm x 30cm x 30cm weighing 600g from here to a US address?

I'm buying something from ebay and I want to know what my options are with returning it if it doesn't fit and I'm especially interested if it can cost less than $45 which is Paypal's refunded returns limit.

    Auspost quotes less than $45 for economy air ($33.38) & standard ($41.18). See https://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/calculate-postage-delive… for more info. You can pay extra for signature on delivery and/or cover for loss and damage. Standard includes tracking.

    Check the additional weight of your packaging doesn't push it to the next price bracket or make it too large (width+height)×2 needs to be less than 140cm.

      Thanks. For some reason I had started looking at courier companies like DHL and Fedex, both quoted at over $100.

    FYI, if you're shopping with Amazon they pay for the return fee.

      How so? Does this apply to change of mind or wrong size returns? The store I'm looking at has both Amazon US and Ebay shopfronts.
