    Buyer beware…

Please read this thread before handing over your money.

    • Hi,
Please read the forum listed and if anyone has any questions I am here to answer them all. I believe there were some quite misleading comments posted on this link but we are here to address anyones concerns.

  • how long does installation take ?

how long before system is fully registered and solar credits begin accruing ?

    • Hi Vjknight,
Installation timelines are around 30 days, the system is primarily there to reduce your energy bills. The system savings are quoted off the basis of you consuming all of the energy if selling to the grid the current buy rate from most retailers in only around 6 cents. However by choosing the correct size system with battery storage we can have you consuming majority of the energy.

A MESSAGE TO OUR LG SOLAR CUSTOMERS

It has come to LG Electronics attention that a company calling itself LG Energy Solutions with the website www.lgenergyaustralia.com has recently appeared on the internet offering LG branded solar panels and battery solutions. Please be advised that LG Electronics Australia has no affiliation or association with the company LG Energy Solutions and that they are not an authorised LG partner.

    Displayed on LG's website

    • -1

      Hi Ausbargain007,
Thanks for addressing this I have just made note on the listing incase it creates any confusion.
      Kind Regards,
      LG Energy Solutions

      • +5

No offence , but to name the company LG ES surves no other purpose too align yourself with the panel manufacturer bearing the same initials…IMHO.

        • +3

And to use a similar LG font and same red colour that LG uses.

        • HI Rokkz,

Our company name is a statement to what we believe in the sale and promotion of a quality product. In our opinion we find them the most superior on the marketplace with a very strong warranty ensuring consumers can have comfort with their purchase and ongoing support.

      • +3

I must say… those are lovely LG logos sprinkled all over your linked PDF. Tsk. Tsk.

    • +4

Yep, very interested to know how the OP will respond to this warning displayed on the real LG Energy website.

I sincerely hope nobody gets ripped off!

      • -3

Thanks for your information Toasty, please note the comment listed is to avoid any confusion between the 2 companies same as the not of the bottom of advertisement. Thanks for raising this.

      • +2

A big pop up message on the LG site.

  • The 2nd & 3rd deal panel numbers/Kw don't make sense - different number of panels, same Kw.

Ah, from the pdf the 3rd deal should read 7.2Kw

    • Thanks wfdTamar,
Human error please see its been corrected. Thanks again

  • How much for a battery and a hybrid inverter? I already have a 5kw system, but I'm putting too much into the grid.

    • Hi Macrophalic,
We would need to assess your property first please contact our office on 1800 959 975. Thanks

  • +2

Are the panels sourced through LG Australia, or Grey Import?

    • +2

Great question! Interesting how the OP hasn't addressed this.

      • -1

He's dodging questions, probably because he's a dodgy guy himself.

    • -1

Sorry for the delay, I have been responding to others. Yes the products are purchased from LG Wholesalers direct, they are all genuine products.

      • Are they purchased from LG Australia approved wholesalers or are they grey imports?

  • +2

What's the warranty on install and panels.

When you are no longer around, how helps out with the warranty?

There's been a few solar companies registered at the same address - just saying.

    • Hi Malouphix,
We are only the supplier and installer of the panels the warranties are held with the manufacturer in this case LG Electronics. You can ensure that your system will always be cared for.

      • +8

        No.

If I buy an appliance from the Good Guys (as an example) and their contractor installs it, I cannot be expected to be forced to go to the manufacturer for warranty redress.
I will be straight down the street to the Good Guys!

        No different here.

Google "search warranty responsibility retailer or manufacturer" and see.

I would not deal with anyone trying to weasel out of warranty claims before they even come up.

I would not deal with you.

        • +3

This is correct, ChrisLevo is absolutely right.

ACL doesn't change because you purchased an item through a solar installer as oppose to a B&M retailer, such as The Good Guys or JB HiFi. You still have rights.

Secondarily, would the warranty be affected when LG Electronics are saying that LG Energy Solutions is not an authorised partner?

        • +1

          Hi Chris,
The question was IF we were no longer around, of course we will handle any difficulties of our clients and service them as they deserve. Please read comments carefully before placing defamatory comments.

        • -1

          @LG Energy Solutions:

          You are lying.

        • +2

@LG Energy Solutions: What "defamatory comment" did I post?

You said "We are only the supplier and installer of the panels the warranties are held with the manufacturer in this case LG Electronics." and it is illegal for a vendor not to provide warranty redress.

I would not deal with you.

        • +1

          @ChrisLevo: HI Chris,
LG Energy Solutions highly doubts you were in the market to buy a system in the first place. Due diligence is the most important thing for buyers, if contacting us we can put you in touch with happy customers and we can visit you on site if required. Most importantly you should understand the warranty is placed by LG Electronics so why would we take ownership of the warranty?
Customers like the fact its through LG Electronics direct, of course we would assist in claims however on install warranties are signed over to our clients and LG Electronics have a warranty line open 7am-7pm 7 days a week, unlike ourselves.

I guess it would be up to the customer if they would like us to phone through their issue IF they ever had one or if they would like to go direct. Both options are available. Please use some level of common sense when commenting on these forums. Currently their has been over 50 people purchase from this advertisement as they made the effort to pick up the phone and do research. Thanks for your time.

      • +1

So LG Electronics, despite saying they have zero affiliation with you and that you're not an authorised reseller, is only providing their panels (and the warranty) to you and no one else?

I call bullshit on every aspect of this.

        • Hi Potplanty,
We are not an authorised dealer, there is not such thing as authorised reseller as anyone can be a reseller of their goods hence them having wholesalers for this purpose. The warranty regardless of buying through a dealer or reseller is exactly the same. Thanks

      • +1

So basically you are selling a product and then walking away?

The manufacturers warranty only covers the actual product. It does NOT cover incorrect or faulty installation. It also does not cover the removal or the re-installation of the products.

        • Hi Tiggrrr,

The warranty on installation is for 10 years from LG Energy Solutions, please feel free to enquire for full information.

        • @LG Energy Solutions:

Why is that information not on your website?

    • +3

LG's "Beginner’s guide to Solar" brochure:

"Over 520 solar installation companies have gone into liquidation since 2011. If you select a LG Authorised Dealer you have an installation company that has gone thorough detailed vetting by LG."

So, even LG is hinting that you should buy their stuff from authorised installer. Caveat emptor.

  • +6

    A good read here:

    https://www.lgenergy.com.au/faq/solar-companies-in-difficult…

There have been over 500 solar installation companies who have had a change in trading conditions, and gone in liquidation or simply stopped trading since 2011 ( download PDF below to see a list of many of the companies). If we assume that these companies on average existed for 5 years and installed around 250 systems each year then the calculation goes as follows: 500 companies x 5 years x 250 systems pa means over 600,000 solar systems are “orphans”. By orphans we mean when the system owner calls the original installation company – no one will answer the phone and be responsible for the system. That means the owners of such systems have to rely on other solar companies to fix the faults of systems they know very little about. So nearly every third of the 1.6 million systems installed in Australia is unsupported by the initial installation company in early 2017.

The next questions is: Why have so many solar companies left the industry in the middle of a solar boom? The very high number of failed solar companies should ring alarm bells. Is it usual for a thriving industry to see such high numbers of insolvencies over a relatively short period? Anecdotal evidence suggests that a high % of solar companies go insolvent when they are faced with myriad of consumer claims be it for isolators, inverters or panel warranties, and where the manufacturer does not honour these warranty claims, or where the installer was the importer themselves. Then the install company themselves, as per Australian Consumer Law carries the make good costs. When a cheaper built panel fails or an inverter stops, often it is not an isolated issue , but many of these models then fail in a relative short period, so the installation company has 1000 panels or 500 inverters to fix in a relatively short period.

So some operators might decide it is much cheaper to go bankrupt than replace 1000 failed solar panels or 500 failed inverters. These issues have also been faced by smaller distributors who sold product which failed after a relative short period and some of these distributors and importers have now left the solar industry. Interestingly some of these solar companies and distributors then relist as a new entity after a few weeks, operating out of the same or nearby premises. In the meantime the end customers face rejected warranty claims and additional out of pocket expenses. Therefore it pays to buy quality from solar companies who have been in operation for quite some time and who sell quality solar solutions.

LG Official Website is www.lgenergy.com.au AND they have a disclaimer (also pop-up disclaimer) that 'www.lgenergyaustralia.com' and 'LG Energy Solutions'; have no affiliation with them.

www.lgenergy.com.au VS www.lgenergyaustralia.com; (when you Google 'LG Energy Solutions', Google shows links to Official LG Electronics pages; some of which are titled 'LG Energy Solutions', but not to www.lgenergyaustralia.com)

This just seems weird. Particularly now that LG has the disclaimer on their own website.

See; https://www.lgenergy.com.au/ (Official LG electronics website for more information)

    • and yet LG will still wholesale their products to this company. If LG are serious about the warning, why not limit wholesale sales to authorised LG partners?

      • I think the OP buys from a Wholesaler who buys from LG Australia.

        • However this company gets them, if LG were serious they could prevent it.

        • @wfdTamar:
I doubt LG Australia care who sells their products. They probably are attempting to discredit a company that chooses a deceptive company name, and to protect their brand.

  • +2

Obviously these guys are not to be trusted if they are ripping of branding/naming from another company.

Hopefully they are taken to court for being misleading.

    • Hi Samfisher5986,
I trust you are well and would like to address the issue you have raised. LG Energy Solutions is an independent entity supporting, promoting and selling LG Electronic products. We are not here to 'rip off' anyones logo's simply here to service the public with quality products.

      • +2

Ok, so change your company name then?

Change your logo so its not similar.

Change the big banner at the top of your website to explain that you are not LG?

Sounds like you are trying to scam people.

        • -2

          Hi Samfisher5986,
I appreciate your business advice and its well noted. Our company is a statement to what we supply and what we believe in, I am sorry you feel this way, however the most important thing is our customers that have purchased are very happy.
          Kind Regards,
          LG Energy Solutions

        • -1

          @samfisher5986: Hi Sam.

Feel free to enquire, instead of making uneducated comments please conduct some due diligence and validate your 'claims'. Our business is very successful and will remain that way due to we look after all of our clients. I have not had a sin gel customer complaint, anyone that has complained on here clearly has no dealings with our company.

        • -1

          @LG Energy Solutions:

So then why are you dodging questions instead properly answering them?

        • +1

          @LG Energy Solutions:

          Our business is very successful

So successful that the real LG is telling people that you (the fake LG) are no an authorised partner and have no affiliation or association.

And what's this with your ABN details that you're not registered for GST?

          http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?SearchText=88%20…

      • +1

Is LG Energy Solutions prepared to comment on the disclaimer published by LG Electronics Australia that states they have no affiliation with your organisation? https://www.lgenergy.com.au/

        • HI Jawanzar,

Please take note of the above comments to answer the questions to your query. To answer again yes we will comment we are not a direct part of the LG Group we are only a reseller of LG Products. The products you receive are 100% genuine and manufactured by LG Electronics.

        • @LG Energy Solutions:

What gives you the right to use the LG brand name and similar company logo then?

        • @m9: Hi m9, We are not using their logo, we have designed our own and we own the name LG Energy Solutions. The Australian Securities Investment Commission has given us the right of the name.

  • +2

    not this again

    • +1

      Please note:

      Unofficial reseller

Australian consumer law requires seller, not manufacturer, to manage warranty claims

Will LG honor warranty of products sold through unofficial distribution? (proof, not hearsay, required)

How can we be sure these are actually LG products, and if so, not seconds/similar?

      • -2

        HI Incipient,

There are around 75 authorised dealers of LG and around 100 non authorised resellers like ourselves. This is a business model we have chosen and yes your warranty is based off the serial codes on the products.

We guarantee the products are genuine as we buy from LG Wholesalers.

It's very upsetting the online world that people are so fast to comment negativity prior to conducting any real research. Please enquire and conduct real due diligence instead of speculation and I am sure that we can please all clients concerns.

        • +4

You aren't doing anything but posting garbage in response to valid questions about your dodgy business.

        • You want a customer to validate your business practices? Are you crazy? Also, if a customer has concerns about your business in the first place you're doing something wrong.

I did do some checking, however difficult that was, it seems that CORE PRODUCT may be covered under warranty (check with lg). peripheral parts, labor, service taxes etc ARE NOT COVERED. (LG rep posting on quora about buying from amazon India, take from that what you will)

Still plenty of other unanswered questions. "if it's too good to be true, it probably is"

I've had enough fun with this job. Back to work for me!

        • +3

As posted above. You are providing a warranty for a product on the basis that it will be handled by LG directly.

Note that according to the ACCC website that in relation to the Manufacturers warranty, exceptions apply in some circumstances.
          These include:
          - goods purchased to be resold or transformed into a product that is on-sold

Since you are buying the products for LG, and then on-selling them as a "packaged" product; then technically, LG do not need to warrant the product for the end consumer. The warranty terms of the individual product lie between yourself (LG Energy Solutions) and LG.
eg, if I buy a Peugeot 308, and the fuel gauge stops working, I don't contact the makers of the fuel gauge, I contact the Peugeot dealership.

Hence my previous question about YOUR warranty policy. To which you have stated 10 years.

So please explain how it is that your product is back by an LG Warranty for 12/25 years?

(Note that LG mentions "LG solar also operates a dealer network across Australia. So in years to come, should your existing solar installer not be in business, there will still be an authorized LG solar dealer taking care of your system. We call it the peace of mind proposal." Hence the implication is that warranty will only be transferred within its "authorised" dealer network. So providers that are outside of the "authorised" dealer network do not carry the same guarantee.)

  • +3

Lots of red flags with the business practise, and the rep has repeatedly failed to directly answer questions here, instead just pasting the same meaningless garbage again and again.

    • Hi psyrn89,

I believe I have answered all questions satisfactory and the only concerns that have been raised are from people that have not dealt with us or done their due diligence. I would not wish to devote our companies time in answering questions that hold no merit.

If anyone has a serious enquiry it will be answered, all warranties are held with LG Electronics and we will transfer them to clients upon purchase. We will also assist and contact LG Electronics on your behalf if you have any issues with your system. This is the same way all resellers operate and some research would also explain this.

      Regards,

      LG Energy Solutions

      • +2

Ok, here are a few more basic questions that are worth your time to answer:

        • For how long have you been operating?
        • What is your ABN?
        • Why is your ABN not listed on your website?
        • Hi Psyren89,

This clearly shows the lack of time you have put in reading the ad that I have listed. It clearly states our ABN details and we have been trading since September 2016. There are also 1000's of sites without their abs listed on their webpage. I hope this has satisfied your questions. Thanks

        • +1

          @LG Energy Solutions:

Why are you not currently registered for GST?

        • @LG Energy Solutions:

This clearly shows the lack of time you have put in reading the ad that I have listed.

Naturally. It's a wall of text for which I care nothing.

we have been trading since September 2016

          Sure.
You started out as a conservation-focused trust company on that date (see here) before changing your registered business name to coincide with your website's domain registration in February this year (see here). Incidentally, that registration is due to expire in one year - not planning on sticking around?
The registration itself makes no mention of your business entity, whether under your old or current guises.

There are also 1000's of sites without their abs listed on their webpage.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum

As much as I'd love to continue this conversation,

          • your reputation on this site can't sink much lower
          • your business likely won't be around very long
  • +4

"There are around 75 authorised dealers of LG and around 100 non authorised resellers like ourselves."

Perhaps you could tell us why you are the only one of those 100 non authorised resellers to justify a warning from LG Electronics …. one that pops up as you go to the site.

    • HI Dabbler,
Good question, the primary reason here was some confusion with customers so we wanted to make it clear on both ends that we are independent. Customers were calling through the wrong website at times for our promotion. I hope this cleared up your question. Thanks

  • Can the system be configured to work in blackouts? If so, additional cost?

Just say I have limited roof space, can the panels be installed in two orientations with the supplied inverter? If so, additional cost?

    • Hi Steptoe,

Yes dual array is no issue and also the system can be configured to operate in blackouts. Please feel free to contact us on 1800 959 975 for an assessment. We can do this onsite or over the phone.

  • I am actually in the market for something like package 6. Like others however, I am concerned about the warranty.

Can you please provide details of the Australia distributor which should put this argument to rest?

What about the new rules specifically AS 4777.1 which came into effect 30 March 2017 limiting new systems to 5kw.

Do you have installs in Victoria? Can you provide details?

PM me if you don't want to make it public.

    • Don't expect a response before the deal ends. Might as well call or email OP.

    • HI Bargingeek,

The warranty is Held direct with LG Electronics same as if you purchased direct through them or any other party. We will help you with any warranty claims in the future or you can go direct to LG Electronics.

The system limitation is primarily for grid connect, you can go larger for off grid. If you require any help or further information please feel free to call our office on 1800 959 975. Thanks

      • I'm on grid. Can you still do the large systems given the new standard?

I called LG and they could not confirm the warranty is covered without more information.

Can you just pm me the distributor?

I would want to now even if I called you direct. If I did, would you devulge this?

  • looks like these are the old model panels for the Neons, the new ones coming out next month are 330Watt and I believe the current ones are 315w or 320w.

    • Might explain the pricing. Superseded doesn't make them a bad panel though.

    • HI ArabMoeey,

These are the NeON 2 Black panels, last 2 years winning a global record for their design. Even the new models that are being released won't make these old stock as they are currently the leading panel. Thanks

Ok, you've really lost me now. You claim 110,000 installs (badge on right of 'About Us' page), but have only been trading since Sep 2016! Over 15,000 per month and that's not excluding the summer break. Come on! I don't reckon even the biggest company in Australia would do that number.

Or is it that LG (the real LG) has installed that number and you've decided to claim them? Either way it's dodgy as hell fellas.

Also you still haven't answered those questioning your GST status - are you Australia's biggest tax dodgers?

LG Electronics Australia has been addressing concerns regarding the unauthorised use of LG copyright material and trademarks by a company called LG Energy Solutions. LG Electronics Australia commenced legal proceedings against LG Energy Solutions in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia and has been granted an interim injunction restraining LG Energy Solutions from using LG intellectual property. Orders were also made requiring that LG Energy Solutions publish a statement in marketing communication advising consumers that the company is not an authorised LG dealer and is in no way affiliated or associated with LG Electronics Australia.
